Hahahaha. My little sister just confessed to me that she was taking meds for Bi-Polar disorder. She also had ADD as a child.

Re: Happiness Comes In Pill Form

I have to agree with the OP, ALOT of medicines are way over prescribed.

If you're interested in the problem then might I suggest Overdosed America by John Abramson? It's kinda spooky.

Of course, I say all this after having taken 2 or 3 prescription meds today. But then, it's not ALL meds that are over prescribed.

I disagree with you about the Xanax because I take it daily and am not a drug addict.

Also a lot of people with severe pain issues must take Oxycodone on a daily basis and if you have the kind of problems these people have you would know that and no a lot of these people are not bedridden nor are they in hospice care.

I take prescription meds for Asthma/Allergies, but I don't run around bragging like folks who abuse NARCOTICS like Oxycodone, Valium, Xanax and other medications.

Not saying its something you should be ashamed of, but it shouldn't come up in regular conversation much unless your having a serious talk about your physical ailments.

Folks who boast about using serious narcotics on a regular basis for their pain usually have a drug abuse problem, just my personal experiences.
Dude, do you ever step down from that Badge? I mean you ever give that **** a rest? My post was really a joke not like I was boasting about getting high.

Is it really abuse if thats the only way they can be free of some of the pain they're in? There are some people who abuse drugs, don't get me wrong, but if someone is in a hell of alot of pain...what else are they supposed to do?

Or perhaps I'm just minunderstanding your point here.

Do you think my posts are directed at you?

Hint: There are hundreds probably thousands of people out there who have serious drug abuse problems, and they publicly brag about it, like its cool to take xanax, valium and the like.

It has absolutely nothing to do "with the badge", there are many examples of these type people within my family back home, and within friends of my family back home.

I guess its wrong of me to wish that people not be worthless drug abusers and jack up everyone elses's cost of medical care and insurance because they take advantage of the healthcare system, as well as cause a myriad of other public safety problems when they are high and in public.

Even before I was a police officer, I never treated "proud to be" drug abusers with any level of respect. If you can't control your own life and willingly allow some sort of chemical to control it, you aren't worthy of respect.

Im talking about the people who are "proud" to be taking it, people who get excited at being prescribed the narcotic, not because of what it can do for their pain, but because they are going to go to walgreen to fill their prescription and stop over at wal-mart and pick up a case of bud to mix it in with. The people who aren't prescribed the pill who get excited when their friend who broke his leg is prescribed percocet because he think he can "bum" a few off of him. The guy who goes to the doctor and says, "Doc ive been having alot of back pain, do you think I can get a prescription of oxycodone to help me out with that?" When all it really takes is a little bit of IcyHot and some time.

Im not talking about the rare people with serious pain related long term illnesses who take it. These people don't WANT to take the pill.

Im talking about people who WANT to take the pill, and keep taking it, because its "cool".
