Re: Gyno woes. Venting. Going off the Pill. Chicks only, plz.

I"ve not had polyps, but I did have cancerous cells on my cervix (and am considered high risk now). My sister did as well and had to have a procedure done where they scrape the cervix. Sounds very similar to what you're talking about, especially since they told her the same thing they're telling you - that it would increase her chance of miscarriage because it would decrease the integrity/strength of her cervix and she *might* not be able to carry to term.

However, she had another kid after that procedure with no problem. (at least not with her cervix, anyway)

As for the pill.. I was on it forever and then stopped it cold. (I fricken hate the pill) All I noticed was that my periods were heavier and much more painful (back to normal! LOL).

As for hysterectomy... yeesh... that's a major thing that I would only consider in the most dire situations. I've personally known a couple of women (in my family) that definitely regretted it. Sex was never the same for them. And as someone who orgasms from her cervix - I know I'd never have an orgasm during intercourse again. Ever. But, that's just me. LOL

None taken Tall. I don't think a hysterectomy is Ten's first option, but it is an an option. I was worried that these things might come back and with her health insurance issues........

If shaving them will take care of it for good, then yes, that is the obvious choice

I'm glad you brought this up RR. I did do some reading on this. It's something that a woman should know about prior to making this decision. If you know how your body reaches and experiences an orgasm, you make a more informed decision.

I talked to my doc and my husband. I wouldn't be willing to give up my orgasms (or the power of them). I don't orgasm from my cervix or my uterus (simple little practical tests with hubby)...although some women do. Mine are a definite vagina/body thing. I'm not expecting my orgasms to change at all but ask me again in August and I'll let you know for sure

Well, I went ahead and found a new doctor, as per everyone's advice.
A female. I had an appointment with her today, and she was really cool.
She says there's only one polyp, and that if I want it removed, she can remove it in the office with only a local anesthetic. She didn't seem to think it would be any big deal. She said I should quit stressing out about it.
So I've got an appointment for early week after next to get it removed.
Even though they're benign over 99% of the time, I'm still kind of paranoid.
I was like, "So what do you think the chances are that this thing could turn out to be cancerous?"
She said, "At your age, none."
But after they remove it they'll send it in to a lab anyway.
So, I feel pretty good about this. I felt she understood my concerns and she took the time to answer my questions. I'm really glad I switched doctors. I'm still scared about having this thing removed, because I hate any kind of medical procedures, but I think it will be pretty minor. She says I'll be able to go back to work afterward, that same day.
So, you know... I'm getting it taken care of.
I feel that switching doctors was the right move.
Thanks for the advice, and I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Re: Gyno woes. Venting. Going off the Pill. Chicks only, plz.

I saw my doc yesterday and had a uterine biopsy (as part of my pre-op for the hysterectomy). I would never, ever, ever....never in a million years do that again without sedation.

I think I said every cuss word I knew, almost vomited, broke out in a sweat and thought I was going to faint.........and I had taken 2 vicodin an hour before the procedure.

The doc told me afterward.......when I could breath again and didn't think I would pass out........that most women don't have that type of pain from that procedure.

She said it confirmed her suspicions that my uterus was full of glandular tissue and why I have been experiencing pain and abnormal periods.

The reason for the biopsy was to test for cancerous tissue. She said that she has to know prior to the surgery, because the uterine removal would probably be a belly cut instead of a vaginal/laparoscopic procedure if cancer is found. I'm sure that part will turn out fine.

Surgery is June 19th........

Wow. That's three days after my procedure. Which pretty much pales in comparison.
Good luck.

I dont mean to hijack this thread, but since everyone here is already talking about "womens issues" it makes more sense than starting a new thread.

have any of you had all or part of your hymen removed surgically?

I don't know for certain that I ever even had one.

But no. I'm not sure why someone would...?

Nope. I had mine partly removed by a playground accident involving a set of monkey bars, and then completely obliterated by my elder son's head.

mine refuses to stretch out or tear on its own. meaning that sex is at least slightly painful, every time.
