Additonally, their definition of "clitorectomy" states "with or without" remove all or part of the clitoris. That is NOT the same as what we would be calling circumcision as comparable to male circumcision. They are grouping the removal of the clit with not removing the clit. That's unacceptable in the type of evaluation we are making which distinctly does NOT involve removal of the clitoris.

And, those particular doctor's evaluations were based on all of those forms of mutliation, and they stated there was no medical necessity for them as a whole. They did not break them down into the smallest groups, which would be necessary to make an adequate comparison to what we are talking about.

I still stand by the circumcisioin of my son, and if I ever had another son, he would be circumsized as well. A human rights violation? Give me a break. *major eye roll*

I had dinner last night with a bunch of new mommies--4 of us have sons and all are circumsized. One of the women is from Holland, where they don't circumsize boys/men. She had her son circumsized because (1) her husband is and they didn't want their son looking different from dad and (2) she said it looks better.

it's like the baptisms, it's a pure familial/cultural traditions.

their arguments are: "it's for his own good" "it's cleaner" "it looks better"...

but it is mainly a tradition (there is no need to do it, not doing it is not dirtier if the boy has some hygiene), there is no real arguments for doing it.

like baptisms, it should not be done without the consentment of the boy (it's not to late to do it at 12), as it is a definitive decision. As if you tatooed something on his hand whithout asking him.
