OBAMA ADMINISTRATION CONFIRMS DOUBLE-DIGIT PREMIUM HIKES


WASHINGTON (AP) -- Premiums will go up sharply next year under President Barack Obama's health care law, and many consumers will be down to just one insurer, the administration confirmed Monday. That's sure to stoke another "Obamacare" controversy days before a presidential election.

Before taxpayer-provided subsidies, premiums for a midlevel benchmark plan will increase an average of 25 percent across the 39 states served by the federally run online market, according to a report from the Department of Health and Human Services. Some states will see much bigger jumps, others less.

I used to have very good health insurance. Now I have none.

Yes, exactly. It was a conjob from the very beginning. Rammed down our throats and the Pubs didn't even put up much a of a fight.

I am just curious... but before Obamacare.. premiums were spiking higher and higher.

Please explain how you think Obamacare has CAUSED prices to rise.

Premiums are still spiking higher......and it's worse than ever.

Before: My wife's healthcare plan was $50 copay and $2,000 deductible. That was high because of a pre-existing cancer condition.

After: The best plan she could find was initially about the same.....for 2013. In 2014, her plan went up, so she searched for another plan and found one at a better price, but still higher than the previous year.($300 copay and $4,000 deductible) In 2015, her plan was now $600 copay and $8,000 deductible.
In 2016 she opted out and is saving $600 a month and putting that toward out of pocket naturopathic doctors..... as needed.

Now...it's going up another 25% ....obamacare for her, is nuts!

Yet Left punditry seems to be under the impression that coercing people to participate in their plans is revolutionary policymaking. But countless times in 2009, the president promised that exchanges would offer those newly insured Americans more quality “choices” and “affordability” and push down rates overall. (He promised the rest of us that health-care premiums would fall by $2,500 for a family of four. Instead, they’ve risen by over $4,800.)

Again though. premiums were spiking before.. they are spiking now.

The big spiel on obamacare was that it would make it "affordable" for everyone...obie said it himself...on TV and radio.

That's not what I am asking.. again.. HOW has obamacare care CAUSED prices to rise.

My guess.....because they don't pay as much and doctors and hospitals are opting out, driving the costs up.

Hmmmmm... not from opting out. but there is a possibility that adding people on Medicaid.. when not having adequate number of providers that accept Medicaid.. would push people into the ER which could increase costs.

But that would be a very limited cost increase.. because uninsured people were using the ER's as primary care places before.
