What Gun Control Do You Repeal?

I don't know that I can know without a doubt that someone is a nut job who is dangerous to others, and I don't trust other non-trained people to make that same decision. If someone is a nut job who shouldn't have a gun, they shouldn't have access to knives, hammers, gasoline or white rental trucks, either. What nut jobs shouldn't have access to is victims, and neither the California nor the Washington laws to anything to prevent murder. They do create the ability of the state to confiscate legally owned firearms because of alleged mental issues that are not confirmed by mental health professionals.
I get that, and I said that such laws should have strict restrictions, so would you be against it if trained people are the ones making the diagnosis?

Do the authorities only confiscate guns and not other dangerous weapons? If so, it's not a safety issue it's an anti-gun issue.

I would think if they are really that dangerous they should be in an institution where around the clock therapy is available. The court hearing on their firearms should go hand in hand with another court order forcing them into therapy.

Perhaps they should be in therapy, but the laws just allow the state to confiscate guns. It's then up to the gun owner to prove that he or she isn't a danger.

Guilty until proven innocent, yup, sign of the times.

I'm in favour of Americans owning automatic weapons. I live far enough from the border that the noise won't keep me awake and there's no risk from strays.
Lemme know if it's gonna happen, I'll invest in companies that manufacture ammunition. I
Unless someone finds a way to use illegal Mexican labour in sweatshops to reload...

I believe Canadians who owned auto weapons prior to C-68 can own them too.

The truth is, full auto weapons aren't useful to criminals. They're useful to soldiers who don't pay for their own ammo for suppressing fire, but useless to cops and citizens and criminals for their respective purposes

Thanks to Hollywood they have a fear factor second to none.

You mean North Hollywood?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout

The two men had fired approximately 1,100 rounds, while approximately 650 rounds were fired by police.[5] Another estimate is that a total of nearly 2,000 rounds were fired.[1]

Phillips and Mătăsăreanu carried illegally modified fully automatic Norinco Type 56 S-1s (an AK-47 variant), a Bushmaster XM15 Dissipator, and a HK-91 rifle with high capacity drum magazines as well as a Beretta 92FS pistol.

These guys wanted to recreate Heat. They succeeded. Well the shootout part anyway. They were not pros though:
Mătăsăreanu then fired a full drum magazine of 75 rounds into the bank's safe, destroying much of the remaining money. In the end, the two would leave with $303,305 and three dye packs which later went off, ruining the money they stole.[16]

Useful for making a lot of noise and a big mess, usually consisting of a big pile of brass. Specifically adapted for the spray and pray method of combat.
