"You don't need an AR15..."

While the comment about needing weaves is rather silly, but her message is a good one. Burning down businesses in one's own community is senseless. They are destroying companies they patronize for their daily needs. It's kind of artless, but she's making a good point.

I agree that burning down businesses in one's own community is useless. But saying that they should go and burn down the suburbs instead is not a very good message to put out there.

And the whole "weave" thing didn't help the message either.

No it's not. I agree.

that's a good question Moot and if he was carrying legally but I just heard on my local news (CBS) that he had dope and a gun. Now that would make things different. His wife is claiming he had no gun

so right now the facts are rather unsettled. last I checked you cannot carry a weapon (even if you possess it legally) if you are in possession of illegal narcotics. and if you point a gun at a cop, that's pretty much guaranteed to end up badly.

but if cops are harassing someone merely for carrying a weapon legally, then those cops ought to be in jail and crushed with civil judgements under either concept of constitutional torts

Scott pulled in the parking lot and parked beside the UC's. He then rolled a blunt and started smoking it, which the officers saw and chose to ignore given that they were there to serve a warrant on a violent felon. Then Scott flashed his pistol at the UC's, so they pulled away, put their police vests on, because now Scott is an immediate threat to public safety with dope AND a gun. That's basically what happened. If they had just seen the dope, it would seem nothing would have happened. I can't say what would have happened if they had seen the gun but had not seen any dope. I do know, however, since I live here that CMPD respects open carry.

Also, WBTV 3 in CLT on their 11pm news cast just showed a still image from the cops body cam that showed the ankle holster on Scott before he was shot - on his right ankle. Here's a link, they may show it again - WBTV Newscast Live Stream - | WBTV Charlotte

Point taken. I forgot about the alledged joint. Now I guess we have to wait for the autopsy.

In the turtle world, smoking herb would be legal so this entire mess would have been avoided

Unless you're black. Then you don't need any gun at all.

in this case, the person shot apparently had a gun and dope. so what relevance as your point?

He open carried? Which is legal in North Carolina?

A useless statement and not really relevant. The rioters in this case happen to be black; I wouldn't care if they were white, asian, mexican, or martian, if they come after me or mine I'll do the necessary.

That is the point. Having a gun is not a crime.

true, but if you have a gun while in possession of narcotics it is

just like its not a crime to be driving a motor vehicle but if you are drinking or have reached the legal limit it is

Refusing to comply with lawful orders of a peace officer is.... doing so while armed is a REALLY dumb move....

So you need guns because "tyranny" but must always listen to the government agents?

Open carry is legal in NC. Brandishing a weapon, which he did when he flashed the gun at the cops, is illegal in NC. Having a firearm in your possession while you are under the influence of drugs (even prescription pain killers) or alcohol is illegal in NC. Scott broke two firearm laws that the officers witnessed before they ever confronted him (plus possession of weed) that gave them probable cause to confront him, detain him, and investigate him including a search.

not if he was possessing dope and that is a federal law
Thats how they make criminals out of innocent people that weren't before.

Rocket, there's a difference between "resisting tyranny" and doing stupid crap liable to get you killed because you're engaging in illegal acts for non-political purposes. I'll grant the distinction may seem like a subtle one, but it is significant.

Then you must've seen something that no one else did because none of the videos show him waving a gun around...let alone holding one.

So federal law overruling state law doesn't bother you at all?

well in a perfect world or a judiciary i ran (or those who think like the founders) there would be no federal power over firearms nor dope. The expansion of the commerce clause "allowed" the federal government power in many areas it was not intended to have power in and when that happened, we started having all sorts of stupid court actions that tried to balance between our rights and the powers the federal government should have never had

btw I suspect its illegal to be in possession of a controlled substance and a gun in that and almost every other state
