I found this accidentally during a ramble through YouTube. It was a presentation to the Connecticut General Assembly working group on gun violence back in 2013.
The gentleman speaking was a Chinese immigrant who became a naturalized citizen. He came here with the goal of making a new life in the USA, to assimilate while retaining his Chinese identity.
Most people who support Trump are not opposed to legal immigration, nor is he. That's because true immigrants are seeking a new life in a culture they admire and wish to be a part of, having every intention to assimilate.
Migrants, either temporary like laborers from south of the border, or "refugees" seeking asylum from their troubles at home only wish economic benefits with no intention of assimilating. In the case of migrants the goal is simply to transplant their culture whole.
I put this in the gun control forum as an example that a true understanding of the purpose of the Second Amendment is not the sole province of "gun nutters," but an easy truth recognizable by people who have experienced life without the right to keep and bear arms.
