How to effectively get rid of a hornet's nest with a flamethrower

Given the relative intelligence level of many of our fellow citizens, I don't see all instances like this ending well.

I once worked out the math, and then enough courage in my numbers, to do a large wasp nest with a weed eater.
the strings cycles at a speed greater then they can get through without getting hit.
I have also used a yard vacuum, but is very anticlimactic compared to the weed eater.
A few year ago a friend was having problems with moles, I found this Wack-a-mole.

My friend said his problem was not that bad, but it looked fun.

So are hornets.

Depending on the type, they will likely rebuild at or near where they were burned out.

I have covered myself in bee keeper's wear, and trimmed off the branch holding the nest, put in a plastic bag, filled it with hair spray and threw it on a fire. Boom.

Two weeks later they were back.

not the same hornets I hope. if so, they sound like chicago voters

I'd like to see that video.

You have but to ask, my friend.

Dragon's Breath is at 4:27. You will see why I love it for social purposes.

It is a whole lot more controllable than any flame thrower, and I also feel it is a whole lot more effective at putting " Fire on target ".

I think if a riotous, murderous, insane mob was after me, because I forgot to take off my Trump hat, This should be just the ticket in a mob situation. I think if you only hit one or two with this, the others would run away post haste.

There is something about FIRE sticking to you, that softens a murderous resolve.

And I do not think they would be very silent either.

Dragon's Breath shells....turning shotguns into Willy Peter artillery.

Come smell the freedom.....and bring some hot dogs.

PS...and they think AR-15's are nasty.

I love that this thread led me to this video:

I absolutely love the woman's comment around 0:57.

As to the video in the OP...lets put that into the dictionary next to the word "overkill"

From personal experience, flame throwers are not the best way to get rid of hornets nests.

I usually just whack 'em with a broomstick.

In my youth I tried all kinds of methods. Thank God mom regularly stocked up on Calamine Lotion.

Heh heh heh. I was just thinking a shotgun blast from a "safe" distance might be fun.

Couldn't have done that on the last one I had though. This was on the roof, so I didn't whack it with a broomstick either. :D

Now that's a mighty impressive nest!

I have done that. I found out you cannot out run them. The most stings I have gotten in one day was 27. Rough housing in the yard I knocked over one of my dads honey bee hives. They were the friendly ones. Until then I did not have much fear of bees or getting stung because I worked with them for years. That day they had me running for my life.

So dude not only sets the hay on fire, but does not seem to see it either.

And he is a professional.

Just saying he is one, does not make it so.

I'll bet he burned a lot more that he planned to.

Moot point.

The Dragon's Breath shotgun shells did their part, and did so in a majestic fashion.

That is why I have two of them in my sidesaddle on my 870.

You never know.

Ya, that was pretty awesome, I had no idea that kind of thing existed.

I feel smarter now.

You might be smarter by not having any.

Can you imagine the damage done if you had an accidental discharge of one of those in your house.

I do not think it would matter what room in would be in. The whole thing would be in cinders under 30 minutes.

I am the only one that handles my guns, so I am not too concerned....(knock on wood).

I am a crazy one. I have always been VERY pro gun control/ gun ban, I have refused to have guns in the house till the last two years (THE BOY has an AR-15 (Future USA Active Duty Officer.... career)), but none the less I now track mostly with the NRA position. There was a now likely dead gun nut at my last home who convinced me. He was a MENSA member, maybe that is why I got my ass handed to me argument, I am not quite sure.

Yup, the XM-42 Flame Thrower. Legal in 49 states and can be yours for only $699.

It is funny how cold steel and FIRE, send most valiant hearts running for the hills.

I prefer my Dragon's Breath shotgun shells that send a flame out the barrel of my shotgun for about 30 feet.

They are more controllable.

You just can't discharge it in the city limits, no matter what Joe Biden recommends. ;)
