It is more than irrational, it is a compulsive obsession. He simply cannot help himself and rejects all that is counter to his instilled ideology. 262million were killed by people like this because they were hated and feared.

No I simply think killing should not be made as easy as it is in the US. Not that you are necessarily all of murderous intent but far too many of you like the idea of killing rather too much, hence the endless obssessing over the minutae of various firearms in the hope you'll be able to live out the fantasy one day.

It just baffles me that one who claims to have lived in Huntsville Alabama...wouldn't have noticed how big an impact the drug culture is in those inner cities. Be it the alcoholism or excessive drug use. I mean alcoholism in Europe is a problem, but they drink wine a little differently than we do. And they've got a better method of handling addiction.

He only sees what his obsession wants him to see.

All else is distasteful to him such that he must avoid that feeling by distancing himself or removing the mote that offends him. A person who fears heights does not want to read about people climbing mountains or jumping off cliffs.

Flogger fears guns more than anything else. It is an obsession with him.

If it does not suit his obsession it must be crap. Why he has no idea.

Who says we want to kill someone? Typical fearful comment. I have NO desire to kill anyone. I actively avoid putting myself in places that are not safe. Sadly that isn't something I always have control over.

Like the time I broke down outside a crappy gas station and I was the only white guy around and getting "mean mugged" for it. If there had been more nefarious people there...I would have been a target for sure. Or the time I sprained my ankle and was having to get around on crutches. I had gone into the pharmacy to get my epilepsy pills. Some little hood rat had the gumption to approach me and ask me what was in my bag (probably hoping I would say pain pills so he can snatch and grab). After some stern words for him...I got in my truck and left. Or the only time I actually thought I would need to pull my gun: on a pissed off large dog who was going after a woman running on the side of the road.

You don't always have control of your surroundings. Self defense is a mindset. A mindset that doesn't require any extra effort. Pay attention. The fact is: I'm a nice guy. I'm a people person, I don't really like people, but I like individual persons. Your assumption is that I WANT to shoot someone because I take self defense seriously.

Never mind that I hunt and lived somewhere that took police an average 20 minutes to respond to on a GOOD day. Something tells me you have no concept of living somewhere that you are pretty much self reliant. Emergency services are limited to clean up. But I would expect that from you living on an island

You hit the nail on the head. His obsession will accept no evidence contrary to his belief. We honestly are puzzled by people's deliberate not answering and the tricks they will use in avoidance. Pretending a question or statement does not exist, deflection, strawman arguments, anger, ridicule, ad hominem attack...... These Are all part of cognitive dissonance. Flogger is possibly the best example we have.
