The Most Hilariously Beta Gun Grabber of All Time

No, it doesn't.

It only means that to people who don't understand where it comes from. Beta males are second highest in the dominance hierarchy.

Further, guns are not inherently masculine. They are used as crutches for those who are insecure about their own masculinity.

Yeah, the worst thing you can do is piss off a beta male. In order to maintain the hierarchy, alpha males exercise a use of force. Beta males hold grudges, especially against other beta males, and will even go so far as to blame a beta male for a problem they had at some stage with an alpha male. There are plenty of alpha male gun owners, and a notable scarcity of alpha male political figures. If the integrity of an alpha male is questioned in any way, he cannot concede defeat or risk losing his "alpha" status. Society makes examples out of alpha males, alpha males make examples out of beta males in society.

This is an example of something an alpha male would not accept.

What ?

This guy wrote an article about guns you don't like, so you attack his masculinity ?

And you don't see a problem with that ?
If this kid lied about his experience then I don't feel sorry for any social discomfort he faces. No.
And if he can't get his facts straight then he shouldn't be reporting on anything.

Lol so now he's a kid ?

Can you levy an honest criticism, or are you just going to repeatedly attack the author's masculinity ?

Not gonna lie, my first reaction was that this guy had to be an NRA plant, trolling liberals in the media.

Sounds like he had preconceived notions prior to "testing it out" and just went with them.

Whining about "temporary PTSD" from shooting a scary looking gun (assuming he really did) is pretty insulting to the vets who acquired it through their experiences in combat.

Hell, it's pretty insulting to me and I picked up my PTSD at home.

Lol do you think vets are the only people who suffer from PTSD ?

He did a pretty good job of that on his own, when he published an article about how scary and painful firing a small caliber rifle was. I just watched a lovely video of a 7 year old girl firing the same rifle-- and giggling the entire time.

No, but they're among the few people (along with sexual assault survivors and emergency first responders) who's PTSD claims I will actually take seriously.

this guy does not clinically have PTSD from firing an AR-15.

More like an elderly lady organist for the local evangelical church choir going to see a Dead Kennedys reunion tour that was opened by the remaining members of the MC-5

I'm giving you some props on that exchange. :rock

But really, this gent is trying to revert to a horror trope about a hobby. It would be a lot more honest and deserving of respect to discuss how culturally out of touch he is with the gun community (or gun rights community, if you prefer) before delving into his experience with the firearm. Remove the hysterics about dead bodies on the floor and the borderline insulting line about getting "PTSD" from a rather leisurely experience with a gun. Just say, "well, I hurt my shoulder. Perhaps I was doing it wrong. It's still not my thing, but here's what James, the store manager or fire range owner argues about this whole situation."

As for the rest, I laugh with the whole beta male thing, because I know it's not exactly directed at folks like me. From birth it was destined that I would be utterly hopeless at doing traditionally manly things because they were and often remain incredibly visual and kinesthetic exercises. I just can't do it, almost no matter how much you try to teach me. It just wasn't to be. But the hysterics are certainly worth mocking.

^ these are valid criticisms. The author of the article was being dramatic and exaggerating.

Attacking the author's manhood is pathetic. Attacking his dishonesty is not.

Of course not, but they're probably the most visible and we'll known group who suffers from it, and the group I'm most closely associated with.

But the big scary gun went bang.
