It's easy to oppose gun control when you are white

Re: Easier to oppose gun control when you're white?

There's a sense of hopeless with many young African-Americans. They have a sense of dispair from not having any social support or funding from education. The gangs allow a sense of security for them.

Blacks are excluded from educational funding? Citation?

Yes, I understand the disenfranchisement, but why do they go that way, instead of trying to build the neighborhoods into something hat people want to invest in? Here's an example that I just don't get: education for instance. We notice that there are two types of black people: those that are well spoken and well read, and those who into adulthood choose to speak street language. Malcome X was very well read and spoke as a very well educated man, but then there's this majority that go with street language: "Aks" instead of "ask", "you be or you is" instead of "you are" etc etc etc.

So there are choices being made. Can you help understand the other choices?

The racial divide on gun deaths in America « Hot Air

About half the victims of gun homicide are African-American. Gun violence has wreaked absolute havoc on communities of color. While white people complain about sex education and argue about evolution, PoC just hope their kids can get to school without being shot by a police officer or a vigilante.

Is it too much to ask to give up the right to own 16 different firearms so that maybe communities of color can be a little more safe?

Maybe this is a dumb question but how many "people of color" are shot by cops and vigilantes as opposed to being shot by other "people of color"?

Re: Easier to oppose gun control when you're white?

as well as massive profits I fully agree with this

this part too is true, I would be in favour of tight controls as I do not believe the average individual has the need for nor the expertise to have a personal arsenal of weapons in their home

Are you aware that the stance is hypocritical? Legalize one object while banning another. My stance on guns is actually what prompted me to change my legal stance on drugs because I realized that it was hypocritical of me to want to ban one object from people while supporting that people have another object.

And a 13 or even 18 year old person doing drugs for the first time is no more versed in how to use a drug than a first time gun buyer. But in my experience both learn how to use both objects over time and with practice, just like any other person with any other object out there.

You actually believe that if guns were banned that those that are doing the killing will stop, black or white? Wow ..............................

Re: Easier to oppose gun control when you're white?

The actual study is behind a pay wall. Meaning examining its validity is out. You get points for finding a source that is unable to be examined. Minus points for a source that cant be examined. Net effect: you earn no points.

Most scientific journals are behind pay walls. But it wouldn't matter anyways because science is communism, right?

Which misses the point. If we are to examine the methods we need to examine it. Not just trust the journalism interpretation of it.

Closing with the straw man is cute, do you believe that about science? Because I don't.

Re: Easier to oppose gun control when you're white?

and truth be told as long as I don't have to live that way, and I don't, my interest is limited to opinion only and bafflement at the need

doesn't affect me one way or another

Truth be told you don't have to deal with a bunch of fear filled crazies who are trying to tell you how to live your life.

Why are you baffled at the need? Is it because you have not been subjected to confrontational crime or ever look death or serious injury in the face and be helpless to do anything against overwhelming odds?

The question firearm owners need answering is why are their such people who would deny them that ability based on nothing but induced fear from a radical anti-social oppression organisation. An organisation that lies about everything and that is not difficult to reveal.

Is it too much to ask for the people of the bad neighborhoods to wake up and put a end to the violence?

Perhaps these neighborhoods could break their code of silence about "snitching"?

PS: I don't see a whole lot of white vigilantes going into black neighborhoods shooting up black children

I have no idea what this mean...sorry

I don't live in your world and would never choose to. I don't know whether you choose to and love the challenge OR if you are forced to via circumstance. Thus no judgement from me. I am grateful that I live in a peaceful community and have my whole life. Neighbours help neighbours, strangers help strangers....that is life as I know it.

Yes.

While I will leave the definition of "bad neighborhoods" for another day, it is extremely ignorant to think that the people living there, not by choice, will risk their lives to meet an arbitrarily established goal.

It is the job of the police, that is why we have them. If the police have lost the trust of the residents of a community the police have failed. You cannot expect co-operation if your police are acting like an invading force.

What is reasonable to ask is that the leaders of the community find ways of re-establishing the trust of the people. For whether they are poor and without resources or rich enough to hire lawyers, the police CANNOT do their job unless they have the support of the community. Only then will promises of protection for "whistle blowers" be believed

so individuals should abdicate any responsibility concerning their own personal safety?

Police can only go on what they see and hear, and trust is a two way street. Bad police are the exception, while violent troublemakers in these neighborhoods are the norm.

It means that like it or not you do live in a dangerous world and you can pretend all you like that you are safe, that is your right. What is not your right is any right to prevent those who do consider they live in a dangerous world from defending themselves for any reason what-so-ever.

What bunch of crazy lunatics would want to do that? Yet here we are having to deal with such crazy people who have no care of trampling others rights to self-defence with a myriad of excuses for doing so. What excuse can possibly justify endangering others lives?

Re: Easier to oppose gun control when you're white?

It would be quite the norm for bad cops to report back to the gangs/criminals who snitched on them. Without that assurance nobody will be snitching.

this is the difference between us....you do not think you are safe unless you are carrying a gun, I have been safe for many many years without the need

What is not your right is any right to prevent those who do consider they live in a dangerous world from defending themselves for any reason what-so-ever.
here again...just because someone perceives they live in a dangerous world does not mean they do....fear is an aweful thing

maybe you've had to kill people repeatedly in order to keep yourself safe....that is an aweful way to live and I feel sorry that is your world

this sounds like more hysterical drama...but like I said above I don't walk in your shoes so ... if you have had to use a gun repeatedly in order to defend yourself, that is a terrible environment to dwell in...if I were you, I would move but you must not have that option

What excuse can possibly justify endangering others lives?
exactly...yet morons accidentally shoot each other daily...terrible isn't it

I was mugged in a neighborhood the DA said was among the safest in the state. Go figure

Federal District Judge, the Honorable Susan Drott-And her Husband, former "Master of Disaster" billion dollars in Judgments Stan Chelsey live in the most expensive home in SW Ohio in the safest and wealthiest area of Ohio. Three mopes saw them leave a pizza place in his Rolls Royce, followed them home, then got high and came back and assaulted the couple at gun point and seriously injured 75+ year old Mr. Chesley. Her Honor managed to flee, ran to a neighbors in bleeding bare feet. Robbing a federal judge and beating up her husband-not a good career move as the three all were sentenced to 34 years of hard time. but it goes to show that you can live in the best neighborhood in Ohio-one of the ten or so most prosperous in the nation, in an 11 million dollar home and still have assholes attack you and harm you

I enjoy shooting. The only reason I am not shooting right now in a monthly league match is that its 30 degrees out right now and its too cold for my wife and her frostbitten (several times) hands to shoot. we are going to shoot some Olympic trap in an hour. so having a gun around for protection is not an issue for me.

BTW How do you stop "morons" from shooting each other?
