ever heard of a deep cover holster called the WEEPING EYE

it was a hit with operatives in central and south America due to the machismo culture down there-a cop or MP is never going to pat your junk down

These were sold by the ASP company in the early 80s. it was sort of best described as being similar to a football cup supoorter and you had to unzip your fly to draw it. it was silicone coated/impregnated leather and fit stuff like the little SEECAMP 32

As has been mentioned already cross draw has a few major disadvantages that outlet side of a few circumstances makes it much less desirable than strong side. One with strong side the moment the holster clears the holster you should be rotating the barrel of the weapon up which allows you to fire without having to bring the weapon up to fire it. Two if you find yourself in a wrestling match you have just taken your weapon out of the fight. Finally due to way you have conduct a cross draw it takes a lot longer in the draw stroke before your eyes can pick up the front sight post. And it also makes getting a good weak hang grip much more awkward. All in all I feel that it simply is not near as useful as a standard strong side draw outside of a few rare occasions.

I approve for women. Never understood how it is comfortable for men.

So I have been finding that I really like having my guns set up for a cross draw when I OC. I was wondering what do you guys prefer, Strong side draw or cross draw?
Depends on the use and the gun, not to mention the person.
Most of mine I carry are on my strong side (right) but my Ruger Super Blackhawk with 7.5in barrel is far easier to draw in a cross draw position and sitting in a vehicle carrying in a cross draw configuration makes getting to the gun far easier. Work works for you is the best method, simple as that.

strong side is better except in some rare situations like having to draw with your weak hand. in CQC, its much easier for an opponent to block or stop a cross draw.

strong side draw is faster-that's why every USPSA "production" and IDPA champion I have shot with draws from the strong side. You also can muzzle yourself very easily with a CD

I fully agree.

The one exception might be when transporting a dirtbag in a vehicle, or for a shoulder holster.

After 50 years of shooting all types of guns, and 41 teaching firearms(mostly handgun and shotgun), I prefer the strong side draw. But, then I can draw and shoot accurately with both hands, so a holster on each hip is not a bad thing. Years ago, when I had discretionary funds through my department, I bought two Serpa Blackhawk holsters, a left and a right, for two different Glocks. I can wear these one at a time or both at the same time.

The first time I ever shot (I forget if I was ten or eleven, but I was pretty young) was a pistol.

Of course, my derpy uncle puts a .357 (or it was a .41 mag? It was so many years ago) mag revolver in my hand instead of a 9mm. He also forgot to correct my posture and how I was holding the damn thing. Also, I figured since it was a small pistol it wouldnt be all that bad.

Needless to say, the pistol was right above my damn head when I pulled the trigger

Bad times... Bad times...

I teach all new shooters with a .22 cal. Once they have the basics down and they are comfortable shooting, then I move them up to larger calibers.

ankle holster or a calf holster are good for that too

When I was in baggy uniform duty pants, I liked them, when the pants legs and jeans got too tight...I didn't.

Reminder too.... Cross draw is great for the OTHER guy to grab your firearm.

Yes indeed....very easily too.

I've arrested two women over the years with guns in their crotch....I call em the vagina holster.
I use to tell them that they were accommodating the wrong type of pistol.

I've never heard of those. Never work for me anyway, there is just no room for it.

Good points. I lost count of the macho cops I tried to train on the range, who loved wearing cross draw...mostly defectives. Invariably, they would come out and fire ahead of or after, their intended target. I finely convinced most of them to stop doing cross draw.

You know another holster type is the concealer carry under armored shirts that are shoulder rigs. They work great with a zip up sweatshirt in colder weather if you go for a run.

Yes indeed.

Actually, the new small, light weight autos, Ruger LC9s/S&W Bodyguard/SCCY, etc., a person can just slip them in a pants or coat pocket w/o a holster.
