Liberal Senator Didn't Want To Hear 'Constitutional Arguments' During Gun Hearing

It would be far more accurate to say there are elections that try to appear democratic.....

Does the general public not really vote in these elections?

Of course they do...they are forced to. Out of a field of how many candidates?

its mind baffling that ANYONE could claim that a communist dictatorship where only one candidate is on the ballot, is a republican form of government like the USA

is there real choice? that is what matters.

They can vote no.

As I said before, the fact that they are an embarrassment to republicanism does not make them less of a republic.

They get one candidate, and can vote yes or no.

LOL this is hilarious-a classic case of not knowing when to fold your cards

They can only vote "no" once in their lifetime or that of their family so technically I guess they have a choice....

A dictatorship wrapped in the trappings of a republic does not make a republic.

You are making the assertion that their government is not really the type of government it claims to be, you have the burden of proof.

No True Democracy Fallacy.

do the people in North Korea have a choice of candidates meaning their votes will determine who is the leader?

answer me that

from wiki with supporting citations

The elections have been variously described as show elections or a political census.[12][13] Seats are uncompetitive as all candidates are chosen and won by the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland.[3][5][7] Because of the near-100% turnout, elections double as unofficial censuses. The inminban neighborhood watch reportedly watches the elections to identify and investigate no-shows.[8]

A voter may cross off the candidate's name to vote against him, but must do so with a red pen next to the ballot box in sight of electoral officials, or there may be a separate ballot box for 'no' votes. [14] Many North Korean defectors claim such an act of defiance is too risky to attempt.[6]

They can legally reject the candidate.

what did they say about that being an act of defiance which is too risky to attempt

There are things you can say in this country that can result in legal repercussions. Are we a democracy?

I would agree, of course, that their democracy has become more vitriolic and pathological than ours, but that is a question of degree not kind.

other than threatening someone's life what are you talking about"

the fact is-there is NO DOUBT that the DPK is a communist dictatorship not a republic as we define it

why are you so keen to try to defend a system that would execute or brutalize people who worship the Pope as you do?

then those people shouldn't be serving in government. the constitution is the authority of which everything else is based.

The constitution is only a best attempt at defending your natural rights, but it ultimately fails as it too is subject to human interference. The 2nd amendment doesn't guarantee anyone the right to bear arms in self defense; it is YOUR WILL to do so that is your guarantee.
