Clerk with concealed gun permit shoots 2 robbers at cellphone store

So foreigners are only welcome if they share the opinions of the NRA and FOX and Friends? I am learning more about some Americans' perspective of free speech.

You're free to say what you wish, within the forum's rules. Others are free to criticize your speech in like manner, including questioning whether your perspective is relevant to them.

For instance, I am typically reluctant to pontificate on European politics very much (especially in any sort of authoritative manner), because I am aware that my knowledge and perspective on same is limited, as I am not a European.

American ignorance of other countries has never stopped them from expressing opinions about them or waging wars against them.

You can share your opinion but it won't mean much. Knowledge is everything.

No; American law has allowed their country to be awash with firearms.

in reality-freedom has not been so corrupted in our society so that natural right of free citizens to be able to defend themselves still exists-unlike many EuroNanny states where the governments and the elites don't trust the citizenry with the same weapons their keepers in the government are issued

For te sake of innocent children, Americans should not be trusted to acquire arsenals.

what complete idiocy: for the sake of rational arguments, appeals based upon innocent children should relegate any argument based on it to the rubbish heap reserved for emotobabbling nonsense.

Look, if you don't trust yourself to own guns-don't. But stop projecting timid hoplophobic nonsense to us.

There are lots of Americans I would not trust with the time of day.

Around 40x more children die in traffic accidents. Americans must not be allowed to own cars that go faster than a horse, for the children's sake!

There are around 30 million American voters I'd prefer not vote, as well. After all, voting leads to politics, which leads to war, which leads to megadeaths. :)

But we have this crazy little thing called freedom...

And if you dip back into history just a little, the same can be said of almost any nation that found itself in a position of power, no?

Tell that to the two criminals that got shot.
It was easy for them to get firearms.

Cars are not designed and marketed to kill people, guns are.

Americans have granted themselves the freedom to cause many deaths to our world through foreign wars and entanglements.

And if guns were banned tomorrow, they'd still find it easy for generations to come due to so many in circulation. Not to mention, we have a problem with the whole gun banning thing and prefer to retain our arms. It balances out to the good, at least according to the sum total of most studies.

As it did in this case.... two armed robbers shot, no good guys hurt, that's a win IMO.

CDC Study: Use of Firearms For Self-Defense is ?Important Crime Deterrent?

Utterly irrelevant. Dead is dead, and cars kill 40x more children than guns.

Beyond the scope of this discussion really, but I suppose I invoked it a bit. Let me ask you a question.... WHY and HOW?

HOW: We can, because there are none who can equal our ability to project force.

WHY: More complex, but in part because if we didn't dominate world affairs, someone else would, and they (Russia, China, other regional powers) would order it according to what was best for THEM and THEIR interests, not ours. At least you (UK) get the benefit of being a close ally and having the ear of the current world superpower. If you don't like it wait around... it changes every 50 or 100 years, perhaps the dominance of Russia or China or the future Caliphate will be more to your liking than the Pax Americana.... though I doubt it.

In any case it is another example of how force rules the world. Those who beat their swords into plowshares soon end up plowing for those who do not.

Who does American not push around? Well, those who have nukes, and might be able to send us one. On a more personal level, it works much the same between armed individuals and disarmed ones.

For the sake of Children the Spainish, shouldn't be allowed to acquire Cars, Drugs, Alcohol, or Tobacco.

Because you know Spain has never destroyed nations and people before.

we should have kept that in mind when we sent so many brave Americans over to Europe to clean up your messes

Children are the last refuge of collectivist nanny staters

How come those criminals had guns? That's the problem right there.

Guns are costly...do you think people just drop them in baskets at criminal doorsteps?

Perhaps criminals acquire them the same way they acquire their other illegally-gained possessions?

I'm thinking maybe we should make cars, bigscreen TVs, computers, fine jewelry, and the good silver all illegal!

CC is important. CC owners aren't the ones shooting people. There is a class you have to take to get CC. People should make note of that. CC is regulated, but everyone has the freedom to get it.

No, that's not necessarily true. In some states, no permit is even needed for CC.

In many states, such as WA, nothing is needed beyond a background check. And yet...blood is not running in the streets of such states....certainly not more than those where more $$$, time (6 to 12 months), or training are "required."
