White House: No idea why Americans are buying so many guns

The FBI conducted 185,345 firearms background checks on Black Friday, the most ever during a single day. The record number of gun sales came two weeks after the Islamic State’s terrorist attacks in Paris, but before the terrorist massacre in San Bernardino, California.
Asked why he thinks so many Americans are buying guns, Mr. Earnest replied, “I don’t know, I really don’t. In some cases these are individuals who believe that they need to buy a gun so that they can better protect themselves,” he said. “In some cases because it’s Black Friday, they probably are going and purchasing a gift for a friend or a loved one who is a gun enthusiast. I’m just pointing out that there are already an astonishing number of guns on the streets of America and far too many innocent Americans who are being killed by them.””

The White House has no clue. Surprise surprise:

That has to be the most honest answer I've ever heard from Josh Earnest, or anyone for that matter in that White House. In fact, that should be their go to answer for any question asked of them: "I don't know. I really don't."

The same answer has been given by politicians and pundits over the success of Donald Trump as well!

Democrpas...always clueless....all the time!

I could point out that The Donald wants to slam the Golden Door because HE's clueless, and wants time to find out what's going on!

You could...but you'd be wrong. I'm finding out that more and more folks, from both parties, are fully in agreement with The Donald....but don't want it publicly known that they are.
The Donald is Right....but didn't go far enough...I think ALL immigration into the US should be put on hold for the time being!

Cluelessness in the Obama Administration? Nothing new there.

The White House has no clue. Surprise surprise:

Ernest apparently doesn't know it is illegal to purchase a firearm for someone else if the firearm is purchased from an FFL dealer, which the ones referred to must have been since the stats came from background checks.

This is what the moron who bought the firearms for the murderers in SB will be arrested for. Its called a straw purchase.

12a Are you the actual transferee/buyer of the firearm(s) listed on this form? Warning: You are not the actual buyer if you acquiring the firears(s) on behalf of another person. If yuou are not the actual buyer the dealer cannot transfer the firearm(s) to you.

I understand that answering "yes" to question 12a when I am not the actual buyer of the firearm is a crime punishable as a felony.

Why does this not surprise me?

Well I did not buy any new guns this year.

I already have 4 and that's plenty.

I don't need more ammo either. I already have over 1000 rounds.

I did not buy anything for Xmas this year.

Last year I bought a new large monitor for my desktop. Now I have 4 screens -- practically a Bloomberg trader's machine.

Year before that I bought a new Ruger Mini 14 however and gave my old one away to a friend.

Year before that I got a new CZ 45ACP pistol.

Year before that I got a new archery bow.

I am guessing that pro gun people are always buying and selling or trading guns.

I did for a while also. But not lately.

I agree -- this would have been a more intelligent and diplomatic comment had Trump made it.

It doesn't surprise me either. I bet he knows but he can't tell the truth because the truth is damning against the lie they have pushed for years. I bet there is a whole stack of charges that they arrest him for that go beyond the weapons charges.

I am getting a welder and the steel to make a log tenon cutter. No gun stuff for me this year. We have a pile of guns but one can never have enough guns. Maybe next year there is a Ruger .44 Mag in the stocking for me. I don't have any wheel guns.

Wheel guns are obsolete except for hunting, and then only as a back up against dangerous game like bears or wild boar.

It was a take-down Hoyt recurve.

I was going to bring it with me to Hawaii for some goat hunting on the big island.

Never got around to it though.

I'd say we have an even bigger problem. We have inanimate objects roaming the streets killing people?

Because Americans (we) are a crazy paranoid population driven by the media (tv).

that's pretty silly. You do know Americans were buying guns for decades long before there ever was TV. go figure that

True. Gun deaths per capita are way down since the advent of TV... and, about half per capita since the intro of violent video games. Armchair psychology is often bogus.

I don't have a gun but deaths of those not involved in gangs, drugs, etc. is not epidemic...its been decreasing dramatically. It is largely an inner city issue.

I don't think that even has any relationship to what I said

we do know that the Democrat Jihad against gun ownership starting with the Clinton Ban really spurred gun buying
