People are getting up in arms about attacks on PP clinics, with some good reason.

The question of doctors/staff carrying has come up. And a bit of hysteria about patients being afraid, patients 'getting their guns,' etc.

Does anyone know if there are hospitals in the US that allow Drs and staff to cc?

I know some hospitals allow cc of visitors/patients. Mine does, that's not what I'm asking.

I strongly doubt there are any hospitals that expressly allow staff to carry weapons, every workplace I've been to has the same boilerplate language policy saying no weapons.

Most hospitals won't even arm security guards.

So no I've never heard of it. That being said it's common for some physicians to simply practice out of a hospital and not actually be employed by that hospital, whether or not "no guns" is a condition of that arraignment is worth looking into.

I'm willing to bet the type of person who works at PP is probably not into guns anyway though. Certainly their executive board who sets policies. If I worked in the abortion field I'd never be without heat, policy be damned

What "good reason"?

Since Planned Parenthood began operation in the 1970s a grand total of something like nine PP employees have been killed.

That's fewer fatalities than occur on one average school shooting.

The overwhelming majority of PP attacks are bombings or arson that occur in the evening after-hours.

I'm all for every American having the right to defend him or herself but PP employees aren't in NEARLY as much jeopardy as the average kid working a midnight shift at a 24 hour gas station in a rough neighborhood.

Convenience store clerk is one of the most dangerous jobs in the US.

Most hospitals have armed security now around here, and my local hospital has a county or city officer on each floor and a small gaggle of them in the emergency room, assigned to floors or the ER all the time. No need for doctors to conceal carry there.

However, I think it's a great question to ask, and you've peaked my interest and I'm doing some searches now to see what I can find.

I know several ER docs that keep a weapon in their personal bags at their desk. Most of our ER docs are contracted. I'm sure hospital policy forbids employees from carrying weapons. The reality is...we have a part time armed security guard and our 'security' is often the current on shift maintenance worker.

I can't answer your question but around here most have armed security and all have limited access after certain hours. One hospital ER entrance has a metal detector you have to walk through.

Most hospitals here (Colorado) are gun free zones declared by person that is the head of the hospital, not by the state.
