Suspect held in New Orleans playground shooting spree
So a known criminal gets a hold of weapon, even though there's another warrant out on him.
The first suspect named in a Nov. 22 mass shooting in New Orleans was being held in jail on a $1.7 million bond after turning himself in, police said.
Authorities have set a preliminary hearing in the case for Dec. 8. Police said 32-year-old Joseph "Moe" Allen and several others were involved in a gunfight that wounded 17 people at New Orleans' Bunny Friend Playground after a neighborhood parade.
Allen was also being held without bond on an otherwise unspecified out-of-state warrant, The Associated Press reported. Police spokesman Tyler Gamble said Allen turned himself on Saturday, one day after being identified as a suspect.
