Virginia Republicans look set to hold onto their Senate majority in the Old Dominion, amid aggressive campaigning by Democrat Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

It is a big defeat for McAuliffe, a close ally for Hillary Clinton, and a big defeat for New York billionaire Mike Bloomberg, who donated heavily to Democrats in the hope of winning the Virginia electoral fights on a promise of more gun-control.

Republicans beat back two serious challengers Tuesday, holding onto seats in the suburbs of Richmond and the Hampton Roads area.
Bloomberg, McAuliffe Fail to Take Virginia Senate

Bloomberg failed to buy the election here, like he did in Washington and Oregon. ..A Gun Control Flop...in Virginia!

Mr Bloomberg! Why don't you lead by example and get rid of your armed security?

He should put signs on his doors saying his home is unarmed and there are no armed guards protecting this billionaire scum bag

Bloomberg tried the same thing in Colorado. It resulted in two recalls and another Dem rep resigning before a recall. You think he would learn. He is the best thing for gun rights since the AR-15. He should get a fruit basket for all the help he has done for the rights of gun owners.

These guys were counting on public opinion polls showing a good deal of support. That this sentiment could be used by pandering to public demand. It's a situation caused by firearm organisations failing to educate the public and allowing gun control to do that virtually unopposed. My guess is the heavy handed aggressive approach simply scared those who had swung to supporting gun control as that had not become smitten by the idea.

As Stefan Molyneaux (spelling?) has said over and over, there is no such thing as gun control. There is only centralizing gun ownership into the hands of the political elite and their minions. This is what they want.

Anti-2nd amendment scum like him are the biggest hypocrites. They want guns protecting their ass but do everything they can to make it nearly impossible for your average citizen to be able to protect themselves. Its a shame we can't come up with a law at the federal level that makes gun laws that apply to average citizens also apply to government, the rich and other elite. For example if in some anti-2nd amendment state bans average citizens from owning a AR-15 then police and others in government can't get them.If I can only a get a 7 round magazine for my firearm then only person in politician's security detail can have a gun. Because to someone like Obama,Bloomberg or some other anti-2nd amendment politician a magazine capacity limit is not really an issue seeing how everyone in a armed security detail usually has a gun.

It is the desire of every form of government to centralise power. It is their only desire because the only currency of politics is POWER. What other factor than power can be guaranteed to motivate a politician? Votes = power, money = power, popularity = power.

Politicians do not trust CITIZENS with guns because citizens can vote them out or remove them. Armed services are dependent and beholden to government and employees usually know their place. It's not about guns, it is about CONTROL.
