A 62-year-old man with a gun in each hand fired at four people – including a 1-year-old boy – before a civilian with a concealed carry permit returned fire and wounded the shooter, cops told FOX19.
Thomas McCary is being held without bond on four counts of felonious assault.
McCary was arguing with a woman around 8 p.m. Sunday night and, when the woman’s brother, Patrick Ewing, approached, McCary pulled out a .38-caliber handgun and fired three shots at him, Cincinnati police said.

Chalk up another one for CCW.... we could probably post one of these every day, and that's just the ones that make the news...

Unpossible. We've been told over and over that gun owners only kill family and friends.

I'm getting an error when I try to access that link

Perhaps.

But sometimes licensed gun owners get it wrong, too.

This story just came in a few hours ago:

911 calls capture panic of alleged road rage killing

I understand the 'safety from crime' rationale being made for an armed society.

But it's also is obvious the more people owning & carrying guns, the more opportunities for mistakes & accidents - and that's a safety detraction.

If anyone here wants to argue numbers ad nauseum (I know there's a passionate few), I'm not the guy you want - but I am showing a flip-side to the 'protection' argument.

Yes, there are occasional mistakes, and there's always a chowderhead lurking somewhere. Statistically though, CCWers have demonstrated remarkable lawfulness and restraint... and I'll lay dollars to donuts there are far more cases of "cop shoots wrong/unarmed/harmless person" than CCWers...

Yes, that's why I didn't want to open up another long statistical debate.

A gun is only tool (although a deadly one).

Each one of us determines the risk-reward of the safety of a firearm vs the risk as we go through in our live's many personal situations, and we make our personal decisions.

It's when we're out in the public that our personal decisions about being armed get complicated, and obviously that's where all the fuss seems to be about.

(though I don't doubt there are people that would ban guns even in our houses, but I don't know of any personally)

Seems perfectly acceptable to me. Hell he didn't even kill the guy.
I think the defender did an absolutely remarkable job showing restraint! And while under fire!

Interesting his name is 'Patrick Ewing' - not 'the' Patrick Ewing, I'm sure.
