Here comes the magical mystery tour! Anti-gun activist–and former Congresswoman–Gabby Giffords is taking her gun control cause on the road because that is the number one priority on the minds on most American right now...said by no one ever.

The focus will be strengthening laws to protect victims of domestic abuse. Currently, citizens convicted of domestic abuse are barred from owning firearms. The late New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg spearheaded the amendment called the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban in the 1990s. The Supreme Court recently upheld this federal law's constitutionality last March.....snip~

Yes, I think she was in Maine today and is coming to NH tomorrow...and no, I won't be going to see her.
 
I clicked on the link in the hope there would be a video because I'm curious about Giffords' rehab progress. Previously, her speech has been laborious, and her husband has done most of the speaking for her.

Looks like a live version of the Obama holding the shotgun picture.They can claim they love guns while wiping their diarrhea **** covered ass with the 2nd amendment and bashing 2nd amendment advocates.

If you watch her shoot and then her husband rushing in to grab the gun and keeping her from shooting someone...thats scary. She looks every bit the puppet she has since the accident. I suspect this little speaking trip is far less about her and more about him. Sad that when they talk about more laws it invariably involves things like magazine capacity, assault weapons and backgrounds. Of course...none of those laws made a bit of difference in her case.

The only gun control we need is a visual ID check by the seller make sure you're 18+ and a citizen. No other gun control at all.

Obama is legaly *required* to make sure everyone legaly available for militia duty has an assult rifle in their posession and knows how to use it. Giffords' tour should be about arming all potential victims of violence so that they don't become victims in the first place. Giffords should be helping people get carry permits (if we must have permits at all), offering vouchers to buy a personal sidearm for the income qualified, and offering a tax incentive for dealers who offer personal sidearms &/or training for free or reduced cost to the poor.

Buisnisses which have any kind of no-gun policy should face Federal discrimination and workplace hazard violations.

Sawah Bwady was a second stringer in the Reagan Administration. She wasn't someone who got much press and she wasn't on the A-list for the important parties. Then her husband got a 22 caliber lobotomy and she got lots of attention as the obviously distraught wife of a victim. But that faded and with that went the limelight. But then she found out wheeling around her pathetically crippled husband and screaming for gun control put her back on the A-lists run by the Democrats and their fluffers in the Press. all the politically correct talk show hosts and talking TV heads had to have Sawah Bwady on their shows. Soon she was back rubbing elbows with gun hating Celebrities such as Lauren Bacall, Hal Holbrook, Marlo Thomas, Eli Wallach, and Andy Williams etc.

now G2's Husband appears to have studied the Brady road to fame and fortune and is following in her footsteps

I actually feel bad for Giffords, and not just because she was shot and suffered a horrible head would and I DO feel bad for her about that. But now to be used as a prop for the rest of her life...thats just tragic. I watched the video of her at the gun range hoping that maybe the brains plasticity had allowed for significant healing and compensation. But that was just scary.

Sorry, I am a rational thinker and what happened to Giffords and the Federal Judge (he died, I don't see he widow out campaigning for gun bans) is not relevant to our rights. What the shooter did should have gotten him a case of extra crispy in the chair or 100 to life (which is what he got)

not rapes of our rights so people who hate gun owners can pretend they did something

No, I don't remember anybody making fun of Giffords' injuries and lack of bowel control. In fact, this is the first I've read of this and am horrified. Please link me up; I want to know exactly who said what.

And whether there is a Surgeon General or not, there has been an "Ebola czar" in place, Dr. Nicole Lurie, for three years, I think. I'd never heard of her until a friend sent me the link to a The Federalist article. See thread in General Discussion if you're interested.
 
If anybody has a right to be out campaigning for gun control it's a person who's been seriously wounded by a gun, and/or her closest family members.

If that's her calling for the rest of her life so be it.
Hard to argue she doesn't have a very unique perspective on it.

She's lucky to be alive. She can do what she wants and get little scorn from me.

I think it's pretty weak sauce for people to rail against her for taking the position she takes.
She's earned the right.

She's earned no such right. Gun control only makes domestic violence worse. By advokating gun control Gabby want more people to be shot like her mother. Gabby's support for gun control is defacto aproval of her mother being shot.

There is to be no "dialogue" with gun control supporters. They are to be defeated, not reasoned with, just like terrorists.

Only by first abandoning reason and hating logic and evidence can one embrace gun control. Therefore by identifying one's self as pro gun control one announces that they are an unreasonable person.

The only gun control needed in America is to prove you're 18+ and a citizen or legal alien. That's it. Nothing else.

I will condemn her for it. Gun control harms others. That you were shot or are close to someone who was shot in no way entitles you to support harmful legislation. Being divorced doesn't entitle you to oppose same-sex marriage. Nearly bleeding to death in child birth because of an abortion years before in no way entitles you to oppose abortion.

I dont see anyone suggesting she shouldnt have the 'right' to go on her speaking tour. I personally think she has the right to be not used as a tool BY a tool...but hey...their partnered relationship is not my business and I'm not sure she knows better anyway.

So...just from reading the article, she spoke to all of 20 people, no doubt 20 already like minded people at her stop in Maine where she is clamoring for a law that bans people that are accused of Domestic Violence from owning firearms. She is calling for the passage of a law...a law which already exists (The Lautenberg Amendment). Not coincidentally she is also calling for expanded background checks. Of course, back ground checks were used in Arizona and did not stop her attacker from passing a background check and legally purchasing a firearm.

9 states, 20 people a stop...that should be good for a lot of press coverage.

But she absolutely has the RIGHT.

Mornin VM. :2wave: She don't have the right to push her own personal experience off on others.....she can talk about what it is like. Talk about the good and the bad. Some of us have been shot.....doesn't mean we are out there saying everybody needs a gun. Or that there needs to be more background checks.

Also Bloomberg will notice they didn't pull to many and will assist in that matter going forward. Also they may have wanted to start her off light since she had recouped.
