Not sure if you understand what you just said, but do you really believe that limiting the power of the government will limit social change? Is that like how a Trump administration's conservative policies that prevent women from using birth control will reverse change? I think we know by now that Trump is at least planning on reversing Roe v. Wade.

It's not like I'm getting grabbed by the pussy. When I mentioned to women that it might be nice to choose what I do with my body, some of them called me a deadbeat. Now we're going to have a racist, sexist administration in the white house, and everyone including Paul Ryan is prepared to use whatever legal power they have to say 'no' to Trump. I have to ask myself what feminism did for me except enable women to kick me when I was down.

Similarly, I think that a lot of the social change that happens under a Trump administration will take place because people do not have the legal authority to say 'no.' We aren't likely to see a lot of bipartisan cooperation, except when it comes to congressmen and congresswoman balking and digging in their heels.

Progressive change which took place under Obama involves knowing that one cannot afford to please everyone. Retrograde change under Trump will involve knowing that one cannot afford to piss everyone off.

How many people under Trump will ignore their allies who ignored them in the past, or neglect to form crucial alliances with people who profited by attacking them and their policies? For me, those people are uncompromising women who refuse to acknowledge that men have bodies and men make choices, too.

That's the thing about living in a free country, you don't get to pick and choose the rights you want protected. Either they're all protected, or none of them are.
