Sarah Palin did NOT say "I can see Russia from my house."

It never ceases to amaze me that there are (seemingly) sentient beings who legitimately try and defend Sarah Palin. At least regarding intelligence anyway. Even the nimrods on Fox News, who absolutely adore Palin are careful not to comment on her intellectual capacity, instead focusing on **** like 'folksiness' or 'REAL americanism'.

If there is one lesson intellectuals have yet to heed it is sincerely in the lesson of humility. Reading a great deal of intellectual history (regarding intellectuals proper) is to deal with immense egos with no sense of perspective. To see the arguments they had over poetry's meaning for revolution, anti-revolution, or the American creed is something that is purely awe inspiring. What liberals (those who hold intellectuals in their shrines, at the least) need to remember is that being intellectually competent does not make one competent in real life.

Do I have faith in Palin's ability? No. Do I suggest that somehow being a non-intellectual, or perhaps anti-intellectual is a bad thing for a leader? No. The last part is what liberals really need to learn. Folksiness is to a significant degree, a valuable trait. It may even tame the beast of the intellectual's arrogance.

This is absolutely fascinating to me. In almost every profession that I can think of, a person being knowledgeable in their particular field would be considered a GOOD thing. Only when it comes to politics do I see people thinking that those who have little knowledge when it comes to government are among the first to be nominated for such responsibilities. It's absolutely confounding.

I am curious though, do conservatives think that liberals think that anyone who doesn't have a thorough understanding of quantum mechanics and hasn't read the complete works of Shakespeare is a complete idiot? There may very well be people out there that think like that, but as a self described liberal, my bar for intellectual competence pretty low. Is it too much trouble to ask a presidential candidate (or a candidate for any government position) to know:

-What items make up the highest percentage of the federal budget (or their state budget)?
-Name any founding father.
-What the current foreign policy of their country is

That's just a few, but it's certainly not anything that can't be taught in an introductory course to poli sci.

I can see Africa from my porch.. on a clear day... does that make me an expert on Africa and international affairs?

talk about a day late and a dollar short.

Wonderful job there ace and you also totally missed the point. The idea was not to send some zealot like you in search of evidence AFTER the accusations had been made... the point was to show that such evidence SHOULD HAVE been presented at the TIME they accusations were made to support them. But you already admitted you were a little slow in school so a day late is to be expected.

You get a pat on the head for effort though. Now go sit and be ready when called on.

You asked for proof I gave it to you. Now you want to become snotty? Why is that?

Responding in kind I would imagine. That seems to be the way here.

Please show me what post number in this thread would lead you to be "responding in kind" here. I simpply posted links answering your request. please don't prevaricate an excuse for your snotty response......

I accept your concession, on the origional point. thank you.

Yeah, but you got the proof only after he asked for it, not before you even knew he wanted it. Slacker.
