    For a 40+ year old...I guess.

    Not overly bright,

Are you overly bright? Or jus' an ace mind reader? What do ya base yer snarky comments on? Hmmmmmmmm..........
In order, yes, no and on her inability to routinely state things that are true. Whether it be her inability to name a single SCOTUS case other than Roe, the 'I can see Russia from my house' remark, her constant struggle with the English language, her blatant logical fallacies, her usage of transparent emotional ploys, etc. etc.

    not overly politically adept

Didn't like her quitin' her day job, so ya have a point here.
    Indeed.

    and not overly experienced.

Hmmmmmmm...... runnin' a State isn't 'sperience yer sayin'? snark snark
    For half of a term...Impressive.

What has she done that has made her as popular as she is?

Drives the Left nuts fer one, smart, hot, tough, can field dress a moose. Get the picture? JR
She certainly makes the left (and independents...and libertarians) laugh, if that's what you mean.

No that would be Ron Paul. Palin is basically a liberal who's just imitating every cliche redneck stereotype she can hoping to get red state votes (I mean that too - while she was governor she publicly endorsed 'death panels' in Alaska, then after the election all of a sudden she's jumped on the "pulling the plug on granny" bandwagon).

It's not that she's unintelligent, it's that she has ZERO common sense. And when I say ZERO, I really mean some huge number on the negative side of things. She deserves ALL of the credit for Obama's win. Or at least 75.8% of it.
You've got it assbackwards. Palin is one of the few people left with common sense. She is not an ivory tower academic who is willing to implement European-style socialist policy. She has the common sense to understand that it is our traditional values that made us great.

Re: Why They're Wild About Palin

Anyone who promotes an elitist economic ideology that alienates the working class from the fruits of their production and promotes the economic dictatorship that capitalism entails before the economic democracy that socialism entails has little to do with "common sense." The premise that European social democracies are "socialist" in nature remains inaccurate, of course, as they promote the preservation of the private ownership of the means of production, the fundamental basis of capitalism.

Incidentally, my parents aren't enlightened socialist comrades; they're not hard-core conservatives either, but they're moderate rightists. My stepfather voted for McCain and my mother was planning to until Palin was placed on the ticket. They both disliked her and her selection.

    Here:

On April 16th 2008, then Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed some of the same end of life counseling she now decries as a form of euthanasia. In a proclamation announcing “Healthcare Decisions Day,” Palin urged public facilities to provide better information about advance directives, and made it clear that it is critical for seniors to be informed of such options:

WHEREAS, Healthcare Decisions Day is designed to raise public awareness of the need to plan ahead for healthcare decisions, related to end of life care and medical decision-making whenever patients are unable to speak for themselves and to encourage the specific use of advance directives to communicate these important healthcare decisions. [...]

WHEREAS, one of the principal goals of Healthcare Decisions Day is to encourage hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, continuing care retirement communities, and hospices to participate in a statewide effort to provide clear and consistent information to the public about advance directives, as well as to encourage medical professionals and lawyers to volunteer their time and efforts to improve public knowledge and increase the number of Alaska’s citizens with advance directives.

WHEREAS, the Foundation for End of Life Care in Juneau, Alaska, and other organizations throughout the United States have endorsed this event and are committed to educating the public about the importance of discussing healthcare choices and executing advance directives.

Though this proclamation is now deleted from the Alaska governor’s website, it shows that Palin’s current fear-mongering is purely political. Palin is not the only conservative leader completely flip-flopping on this issue.

Here's the new URL, it was moved from Palin's site to Sean Parnell's (the new governor) after Palin resigned. Sorry.
