German Moves to Ban Violent Video games

Not sure where to put this, so I stuck it here.

Germany's Interior Ministers Ask Bundestag For Total Ban on Violent Games | GamePolitics

Quote:
It appears that Germany's 16 Interior Ministers have banded together to ask the Bundestag (Germany's equivalent of Parliament) to ban the production and distribution of violent video games. Moreover, the ministers hope to see this accomplished before Germany's new elections take place on September 27th.
This is a reaction to a school shooting in Germany recently. It would ban any game in "which realistic killing is an integral part of the plot - or even "other cruel acts of violence against human or human-like beings."" Quote is from Der Spiegel.

This is painfully idiotic.

What a bunch of cry babies.

Its never the institutions that cause problems and its always the free parts of the world that do, in their eyes.

This is a claim I have heard repeatedly, but it reminds me alot of the claims that comic books caused children to become criminals in the 50's.

Re: German Moves to Ban Violent Video games

Im torn on such laws.

I think today, to some extent anyway, that we are allowing our youth to see violence as entertainment instead of a sometimes necessary evil.
