White House dismisses 6 over failed background checks - POLITICO

Several White House staffers were dismissed Thursday morning after failing FBI background checks, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Some of the aides were "walked out of the building by security" on Wednesday after not passing the SF86, a Questionnaire for National Security Positions for security clearance.

Among those who won't be working at the White House was President Donald Trump’s director of scheduling, Caroline Wiles, the daughter of Susan Wiles, Trump’s Florida campaign director and former chief of staff to Governor Rick Scott. Wiles, who resigned Friday before the background check was completed, was appointed deputy assistant secretary before the inauguration in January. Two sources close to Wiles said she will get another job in Treasury.

She's among others who failed to pass the intensive background check, which includes questions on the applicant's credit score, substance use and other personal subjects.

A White House spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

Just how common or uncommon is this?

Let's not go there yet. Let's get a little historical data first.

I'd go out on a limb here and say its quite common for a post-Kennedy White House to commit such failures...

I can't speak for WH positions specifically, but failing background checks is common. As the article said, it can be because of something as innocuous as having a bad credit history.

I'd bet that limb is pretty stable.

Now you need to check Credit Karma to be able to have a ****ing job?

I've got excellent credit, but there's not enough mules in Wyoming that could drag me to work in the White House.

Why is the "****ing" in this post? Does the writer think it makes him look grown-up? It baffles me that anyone thinks this may enhance his standing.

I wouldn't read too much into this. WH staff undergo a much more intensive security check that many other governmental agencies. It's only news at all because it dovetails onto the "Trump's staff/Russia" connection, and in doing so cheapens a serious matter that potentially could turn out to be a major situation.

OTOH, in a year like this, who knows what's really going on?

Any man who knows how to properly **** is automatically enhanced in my book. :)

There can be many reasons that a person doesn't pass it. I personally didn't think it was that intensive when I did mine but I've lived a very boring life. Going off of anecdotal experience people run into more problems by not disclosing stuff more than the actual bad thing itself. So long as you're open about everything, and don't try to hide stuff, it's not nearly as big of a deal.

The other most common complication I've seen people have difficulty with is if they have done a lot of foreign travel and/or have foreign friends/relationships.

Ok... it's all about me now is it?

Sorry I offended your delicate sensibilities there. Just turn off your computer and find your safe space there sport.

Then I know just the guy.

I'll see if he's still awake. He's east coast.

It also depends on the nature of the position. White House positions surely have the highest scrutiny.

There's far too much of my wife's **** in the closet for Putin.

What about under your bed? Is Putin under your bed right now? Call DHS right now. If you see something say something.
