2017 vs 2009 Inauguration

I saw that photo yesterday. It's just another reminder that Trump really is supported by a minority of Americans.

Is it really that much of a surprise though?

That is literally what "most unpopular" looks like, no?

Inauguration crowd size are not an indicator of a president's popularity. If it was then Reagan,Clinton and the 2nd Bush would have never saw second terms. Obama saw huge numbers because he is the first American of partial African decent to be president.

Inaugural crowd sizes ranked | PolitiFact

Barack Obama, 2013: 1 million

Barack Obama, 2009: 1.8 million (generally considered a record for people on the National Mall)

George W. Bush, 2005: 400,000

George W. Bush, 2001: 300,000

Bill Clinton, 1997: 250,000

Bill Clinton, 1993: 800,000

George H.W. Bush, 1989: 300,000

Ronald Reagan, 1985: 140,000 tickets sold, but record cold moved the swearing-in ceremony indoors

Ronald Reagan, 1981: 10,000, according to the New York Times. This was the first year the ceremony was performed on the west side of the Capitol.

Why did Obama still pull 1 million for his second term? You're telling me that Trump pulling 1/4 of Obama's second term numbers doesn't say anything about his popularity?

More fake news by lying liberals.... yawn... but then again, you would expect more unemployed welfare sucking liberals to be free to do such things that hard working conservatives with jobs. The bottom line is that the liberals are really traumatically damaged by not getting their way.... That's Great!!!!!

the only thing that makes the crowd size interesting is all the hoopla the right wingers raised about trumps campaign crowds.

no, the pics speak for themselves

You have proof that the photos are fake?

Or are you just shouting that it's lies based on nothing but your own hatred an fear?

trump had about 250,000 attending yesterday. there are about 500,000 people protesting today.

Nope it doesn't say anything about Trump's popularity.

But you never can be sure, what they are saying. The pictures could be saying that the people that came out for Obama were enough elitist to afford and make the journey and leave their jobs on Thursday for a long weekend. I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, mind you. But I am always careful with the interpretation of pictures. Do you remember the one of all those heads of state and government at the head of the demonstration in Paris a while ago. It projected a dishonest story that was impressive and stuck in memory.

Wasn't one of the big arguments for his popularity his rally attendance during the primaries?

the only thing that makes the crowd size interesting is all the hoopla the right wingers raised about trumps campaign crowds.

But didn't they claim that his campaign rally crowd sizes was proof he was going to win?

There is a difference between driving out to a nearby location in the evening and taking off work to go across the country for a weekend..................... at least when you are an employed individual.

Didn't he win on November 8th despite people saying that other candidates in the past had huge attendance during their primary campaigns and still didn't win?

I've seen a lot of people come around to the rally attendance point since the election. The argument against him winning was that Clinton would turn out more regardless. That was true, but people didn't even think he could swing some blue states.

Let us compare the historic election of the first black president with someone else....

Because that is a fair comparison.

Trump supporters were too busy working, meanwhile Obama had people who were there celebrating not having to pay their mortgage anymore.....

Yeah, life is so unfair for white men!!

no, the pics speak for themselves

Tell me the timeline on the pictures, compare the pictures of the Trump inauguration provided by the fake news to the actual pictures when he is speaking. It is easy to manipulate pictures and small simple minds.

I really get tired of stupid comments, go look at the pictures when he is speaking and compare them to the fake news pictures.
