Is America Stupid?

As a pretty knowledgeable dude, I say, "They absolutely are dumb as ****."

How many Americans can name all 50 states and their capitals?

How many Americans can write an equation for a simple math problem like this: Jimmy (J) has 14 more baseballs in his bag than Paulie (P) who has three?

How many Americans can name all three branches of government?

Hell, how many Americans have read a book in the past 365 days?

Send me a very large check and I will have a poll taken on each of those questions.

I bet half the house that most of the people responding to this thread so far cannot answer the questions in the op. The whine which followed my op certainly did not show anyone even attempting to do it.
I rest my case.

So did Hillary's voters on November 8th but guess what?......the case was lost....
Noone attempted to do it because it was silly. Most here probably could.

You are arrogant to think that just because people don't play along with your silly game that they are therefore stupid.

No. You only proved that you cannot solve a 10th or 11th grade math problem.

It proves no such thing, and the fact that you are still playing your stupid little kid games even though the gig is up because there are now adults in the room just goes to show how pathetic you are.

Sorry, I wish I had better news for you.

Still dodging the math challenge, I see.

Dude, I could solve that problem in the 6th grade.

Show us you can create the equation asked for in line #3 of of the op.

Or, simpler yet, name the capital of Alaska or Montana without using the google. Or tell us the state surrounded by Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho and Wyoming.

I don't remember the equation but Juneau. Helena. Utah.

Solve any one of the problems presented to prove me wrong. I bet you can't.

Without googling!
1) Start with the year US Grant was born
2) Subtract from that the year Washington was born
3) Add age of our new president
4) Subtract freezing Temperature

If you arrive at the right answer then you have the right to demean others & may
have an IQ even above the correct answer, otherwise quit being silly. I bet 1 in 400
would know this.

BTW- I know the correct answer without googling

Asking for a state capital is a far cry from asking the year Grant and Washington was born--who the hell knows that anyway? We can estimate that Grant must have been born around 1800 and GW somewhere in the early 1700's.

Trump is probably 70 and water freezes at 32. So, erase the crazy trivia about Grant and Washington, and you may have something similar to the 5th grader questions I asked.

1. You're confusing ignorance for stupidity. Not the same thing.

2. Who really gives a **** if someone can name all 50 states and capitols? It's a big country. If you need to know the capitol of South Dakota for some reason, look it up. I memorized all that **** in 7th grade but that was almost 40 years ago...

3. An equation isn't strictly necessary for Jimmy's balls. 14+3 is easy enough.

4. Granted, not being able to name the 3 branches of gov't shows a serious lack of interest in how the country is run. But if people don't care enough to remember, fine... I just wish they wouldn't vote in that case.

The thing that scares me is when I run into an American that doesn't know Obamacare and the ACA is the same thing, and then they argue it oast the point of well I can't say reason...

Actually since Jimmy has 14 more balls than Paulie, who has three, the equation looks as follows.

J = P + 11

7th grade math, tops.

almost 63 million Americans voted for a Reality T.V. star as president...there's your answer.

128 is the answer, like I said about 1 in 400 would have that knowledge probably history buffs. Rather than 50 state capitals
naming the largest cities in each state would demonstrate more awareness in 2017. Times are a changing!

I do agree however by watching Waters World on TV there are many adults that are pretty slow.
He showed photo's of Cater & Biden a while back and no one knew who they were. Some had really
laughable answers.

Why, there are Americans that seem to believe that the Jimmy and Paulie statement is an equation. ;)

Americans are pretty well educated relative to the developing world but not so much compared to the other developed nations. We are kinda the world's "C" students whereas nations like Iceland and Japan are the "A" students. Of course, that is taking education as an average. There are some exceptionally bright Americans but educational opportunities in our country are very influenced by socioeconomic status.

"Pretty" isn't really enough, if we want to grow as fast as China. But we don't even know how that could be done in an economy that is as far developped as ours.

How many Americans default to calling their countrymen stupid when elections don't go the way they want?

About half. It is a carefully concealed fact that no fewer than half of all Americans are below average intelligence. Don't tell anyone or all hell with break lose

What does this have to do with politics?

I can use a slide rule, but I can't work the freaking TV remote!

So what's yer point? ;)

America isn't stupid. America, however, is largely ignorant. There is a difference.

They're not ALL stupid. Some realized we needed a real leader who actually cared for America, and supported the one we now have.

The rest? Meh. Yeah, you're right....dumb as bricks stupid.

If you think Donald Trump cares for America more than he cares for himself, you're basically the subject of the OP.

The last paragraph was what I was leaning toward pointing out with last night's posts. We all could use a little more knowledge, and few of us make no mistakes. I screw up all the time, for instance. But, there is a hard move toward stupid going on in the US.

I wonder if Trump plans o fixing that too.

It's usually the other half. :)
