Anti-Trump protester sets himself on fire

Are you kidding? Anyone stupid enough to light themselves on fire needs to be mocked, often and in public to help deter others from making bad choices.

The irony of this is simply astounding.

Its called common sense and experience in life being able to spot actions that are not normal.

I suspect you already know this but your posts are motivated by politics.

So blowing yourself is normal?

So if you see someone doing something you feel is not normal for the vast majority of society you consider that person to be suffering from a mental illness?

Do I have this right?
Lighting yourself on fire: not normal
Blowing yourself up: normal!

Go back read what you wrote and what I quoted.

This man who set himself on fire is NOT NORMAL and appears to be suffering from some mental disturbance. Mocking him to score some cheap political points is disgusting.

I fail to see the irony, perhaps you could explain it more clearly.

Why are you replying to a post of mine that what not directed to you?

That would depend on the role religious ideology plays in the thinking of a particular person. In Christianity Jesus of Nazareth gave himself up and allowed himself to be killed for his religious ideology and beliefs. Was Jesus mentally ill or a rational thinking person?

Go back read what you wrote and what I quoted.

So if it's religious ideology, it's debatable, but if it's political ideology then it's mental illness. Got it.

Your lack of compassion for somebody who others criticize.

Oh, oops misread the reply. I have compassion for people. But if you're stupid as to LIGHT YOURSELF ON FIRE, I can either make you an object of sympathy (thus perhaps encouraging others to follow in your foot steps) or I can hammer your stupid so as to deter others. You fail to see the sympathy and compassion because you are focused on trees, I'm looking at the forest.

I have not mocked the man for his protest.

History shows many sane men doing such things as a noble or honor bond forms of protest.

To lessen his intentions by claiming they are a result of some brain or chemical balance issue verse a thought out meaningful protest is the worst kind of mocking and indeed is disgusting

And did you laugh at this guy, too?

How can you claim to have compassion while mocking someone?

That wasn't a tragic mental illness, that was pure TDS dip****tery. But you made a really valiant attempt at moving the goalposts, diverting the discussion and shifting the conversation. Pat yourself on the back and get yourself a participation trophy.

You do realize that, in TDS, the S stands for "syndrome", yes?

Lol... what makes you think you can conclude that someone is NOT mentally ill, without ever knowing, or even meeting, that person?

These are completely different cases. You are trying to say apples and oranges are the same because they grow on trees.

Why are you ignoring what you wrote on the previous page?

There is no forest without trees. Your stance reminds me of a very old PEANUTS cartoon where Linus proclaims that he loves mankind - its people that he cannot stand.

How can you claim compassion yet encourage people to light themselves on fire?

I like it.

I wouldn't encourage ANYONE to light themselves on fire.

The right should be asking itself, honestly, what drove this man to these lengths. Instead, they're pointing and laughing. Guess who else does stuff like that? Nelson Muntz, the epitome of the bully archetype.

What drove him there? Listening to alt-left hysteria.

How can you claim to know that it's hysteria?

Am i the only one here who doesn't want to jump to any conclusion about this person?

Mental illness is a tragic condition that should not be mocked for narrow partisan or ideological purposes.

Agreed. Someone who sets himself on fire is sick, and this isn't a bit funny.

But it's also almost impossible to believe that someone would do this because his political candidate lost too.
