People who try (and sometimes succeed) in shutting down free speech events

We pretty much gave away our birthright when we allowed the corruption and then destruction of the education system. Stupid citizens will rarely stand up to their would be owners.

It is never to late to restore anything.

If he is going to go around colleges making speeches then he is best served having a thick skin, there is always someone that will not like the message and students tend to be vocal.

And he just loves making lefties look ignorant...I just love that about him, his drive to prove that he is smarter than his enemies are. Milo believes both truth and in developing the skill to not only transmit the truth but to help others see the truth.

Clearly he is a fellow member of the TTT, the Truth Tellers Tribe.

It is always a good time to fight for the truth.

Yes indeed and now isn't the time to waiver. Look Trump wasn't my choice but he won. He is my president. And I have to tell you in his picks for cabinet for the most part they are solid .

The only pick of his I really have an issue with is Wilber Ross for Sec of Commerce. But then again I am at total odds on Trump's trade ideas.

They tend to be especially vocal at colleges, it seems.

They are Students, busy exercising their minds, sometimes they get vocal, anyone doing the circuit knows this going in. Personally I like contrasting ideas being expressed, it tends to make people think, an often overlooked skill these days.

You dont have to suck up to me on Trump, reality/fantasy is the line I play on, besides which too many people agreeing with me makes for a boring life....but ya, we agree on the cabinet. Trump wants to get some work done. America needs a LOT of work done. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship(Casablanca)...

My experiences have been that the majority of LGBT people have only ever wanted to be treated as plain and equal human beings to begin with, they already are equal in my eyes.

Me too, but the social media, message boards, and social issues in the MSM still have an awful lot of LGBT controversy in them.

You ever notice how the right wingers all of a sudden sound like the ACLU when it comes to racists being shouted down?

Of course it should be a crime. It IS a crime. Did you look at the Findlaw link I gave you?

I read the linnk. It didn't say it's a crime to scare a person.

So his speech was "shut down" by others using their right to free speech? Sounds like democracy in action to me.

Free speech is not protection from criticism. Despite current RW doctrine, which you'll notice only protects them, but not those who share a different opinion. I'm sure they'd have been quite ok with that free speech being shut down.

Protesting is great. But protesting in a way that stops others from exercising their speech is unethical in my book.

What racist?

Milo Yiannopoulos is about one notch away from David Duke.

Just the same, I don't like how common it is anymore on college campuses to protest any view they disagree with, but lets not compare a the shouting down of a rabid bigot like Milo Yiannopoulos to protesting someone like Condi Rice from speaking.

Milo Yiannopoulos is about one notch away from David Duke.

Really? Because part of his speech in December in Milwaukee was about how despicable racism is.

Yep. I used to follow him on Twitter and I've watched several of his speeches at universities. He's crass, crude, drops the F-bomb every few sentences, calls Trump "Daddy," makes fun of disabled people and fat lesbians all of the time, speaks out against how Muslims treat gays and women, etc.

I have a love/hate relationship with him. I hate him personally, but agree with a lot of what he has to say with what's wrong with America.

FYI -- here's Milo responding to someone who says he's a white supremacist:

We will not stand for the regressive left perpetuating violence, censoring speech, and spreading hate. Meet us and Milo at 1 P.M. in the quad.

I saw a picture of people holding some signs and saying things.

What are you blathering uselessly on about? Were they holding the signs too aggressively or something?

Nothing you quoted was me saying anything. I simply copied/pasted the Facebook statuses from the UC Davis Republicans and Milo.

Don't ask me why the university canceled the event. Obviously they weren't comfortable with the protesting and canceled it for the safety of everyone.

For example....

Last night Milo Yiannopoulos' event at UC Davis was shut down 30 minutes before it began because they didn't feel it was safe to continue.

Hopefully it remains peaceful today:

I'll be marching through the UC Davis campus from 1pm today, with Martin Shkreli and the College Republicans, to protest the cancellation of my event last night. Join us!

Who are these people who try to stifle free speech and why?

LOL @ "free speech event". Sure, if by that you mean "testing the limits of free speech with hate speech that incites violence".

No, universities and starving college students are not required to spend money to host bigots just because the right has an affinity for whining.

Why do you think your right to march means that you should be able to prohibit someone else from protesting?

Is it though? Didn't civil rights protesters do much the same sort of thing in the 60s?

They were actually fighting against injustice, not simply disagreement. You don't have the right to interfere with speech you don't agree with, by threatening violence.

What makes you think that is "often overlooked" on college campuses?

Every time, Absent -- you do it every single time. Show me exactly where I said that people shouldn't have the right to protest. Go.
