People always complain about politicians', so it'll be interesting to see a Government run by non-politcians. Trump does not project a tenth of the competence of this guy.

He made these Senators ( Rubio,Markey ) look like complete lightweights.
The guy in the job now IS a complete lightweight , so he won't have very high bar to clear.

Maybe he'll counteract Trumps' buffoonery.

What do you think?

I think Putin will be psyched!

I worry about people who will not admit that Putin committed war crimes by bombing the **** out of civilians in Aleppo.

Remember, it is the 'buffoon' who is digging deep to find the right people for the job and putting them up for nomination.

I was enormously impressed with Jeff Sessions, Mattis, and Tillerson in their hearings, and this morning Pompeo (nominated CIA director) was handling himself in amazing fashion. Trump will of course be blamed for the unusual 'whiteness' of his cabinet picks but I remind myself that he is as anti political correctness as I am. I believe he is honestly ignoring all the expectations for diversity and such and instead is looking for the most qualified, experienced, knowledgeable, and capable people he can find.

That kind of 'buffoonery' I can handle all day long. :)

lol, I think he just flipped through his CEO Rolodex (remember those, lol) and pulled names at random.

I'm sure Putin was equally impressed and is looking forward to lifting of sanctions without having to withdraw troops from anywhere. The Soviet Union just might rise again.

Mattis I thought was reasonable, but frankly, sessions is horrible, and I would not trust Tillerson as far as I could throw him, the conflict of interest is strong with him, no matter what he says.

I am not really sure saying "I don't know" in dozens of ways is what I would call "competence". He sounded like a reasonably honest, smart guy going into an interview for a job he was not at all prepared to do.

I think I would have preferred the "buffoon" nominating people with actual relevant experience.

I remember when the U.S. bombed a hospital by mistake in Iraq. Was that a war crime?

Apparently yes.... wonder when Obama will be charged for that.

Putin didn't bomb Aleppo by mistake. But, it's nice of you to show us that you will point to America's flaws when defending Russia. Very Telling.

Pointing out America's flaws is not "defending Russia".

I think Tex Drillerson is a stupid con-man like Trump who won't do ****.

Yes, but I have yet to see a post of yours that thought he got anything right. So objectivity, when it comes to Trump, doesn't seen to be a long suit in your case. :)

Or, I call a the duck a duck. But whatever, the Partisans are out in full on all this. We'll see what happens. But bankers and CEOs isn't exactly "rocking the boat", like y'all want to parade about as if it were so.

I'm sure Putin is watching all this with interest. And if he has been paying as close attention as some of us are, he knows that in deal making, Trump isn't the kind of guy to give away ANYTHING without getting something in return. And he's not afraid of much.

Well everybody sees it differently. I sure couldn't fault Sessions in ANYTHING he said in his hearing and I agree with the OP that Tillerson put down a lot of concerns and fear with his testimony too.

I think he did. You don't have to have experience doing the specific job you are hired for; only experience and skill sets that qualify you to do it. I have been in that position myself several times and I believe my experience and skill sets allowed me to do the 'different' job competently.

If Trump indeed intends to clean house, it is advisable not to choose people from what needs cleaning to do it.

I found my concerns were increased with Sessions and Tillerson actually.
