Westboro Baptist Church plans protest by high school | Derby News | derbyinformer.com

[h=1]A Topeka-based group known for its provocative demonstrations is planning a protest from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 11 near Derby High School. Westboro Baptist Church members will picket the school to protest the participation of a transgender student in the school’s recent Holly Ball royalty court.

Principal Tim Hamblin said the school is working with police to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Protesters will not be allowed on campus, including the parking lots or grass area.

“Outside groups and organizations are allowed access to public sidewalks only,” he said in a letter to parents.

Im really indifferent to it all but im not gonna lie. I would not defend them if they found themselves being charged with truancy and child neglect. The left is very fond of using gov enforcement. It would be interesting to see how they reacted to having it done back to them.

It's really rather telling when one's response to a kid not going to be able to attend a high school event because human scum are picketing there is "I hope the kid and his/her family get in trouble."

Indeed it is. I feel bad for the kid, who was likely looking forward to this a great deal.

It sucks that the Westboro Baptist Church is still around. I would have hoped they would have disintegrated messily by now.

It's MY CHILD and I agree with my exwife that sending her tomorrow isn't worth it. Let me tell you about her, she's 16, graduating a YEAR early, Straight A Student who worked her rear end off this summer to pay in cash, for her own car.

So you were talking about Renae and her ex-wife. I wasn't sure because you were talking about liberals and I highly doubt you know the ex-wife's political lean and Renae sure as hell isn't liberal.

But more importantly, if one of them feels it is too dangerous that day there is nothing wrong with keeping their daughter home. That isn't truancy in the eyes of the law or rational people. It is being a careful parent.

Willfully preventing your child from getting their state REQUIRED education can certainly be construed as neglect along with truancy. You dont have the right ro no go and/or not send your child to school whenever you feel like it. Its called the LAW, learn it.

Just for starters--- what "little girls" are there in high school?

It's a ****ibg bathroom. The idea that somebody is going to go to all the trouble of publically changing their gender, taking pills,etc just to sneak a peek is absurd. Nobody is going to do that.

Oh, and judging by your support for the WBC I suppose it's safe to say that you approve of their picketing of the funerals of US servicemen killed in action?

In PA I dont think they could do that. At least not in my county. At least I am assuming anyway because of things that have happened around here.
2:45 to 3:30 would be dismissal time and gatherings with in certain distances of schools, bus routes, intersections etc are not allowed because of safety and congestion hazards.

When there was a teachers protest/strike the teachers would move around certain times, relocate further away or in different areas. The story was in the paper but i didn't pay much attention to it but it definitely made reference to somethign of that sorts.

You missunderstand i dont support WBC. I support people being treated as crappily as they treat others. Ild celebrate people showing up and picketing their funerals just like they do to those service men.

Men and women should not be forved to surrender their policy just because transgenders feel singled out because of it. You support them invading peoples privacy and i suport having people like yourself being equally offended by people who dont like you and are just as intolerant. You get what you give.

I've never heard of any transgender people treating anybody as badly as the WBC treats people, so.....

How exactly does this kid attending a school event violate anybody's privacy?
