Meryl Streep Quietly Shreds the King of Self Importance

Meryl Streep never mentioned Trump's name at the Golden Globes last night as she trashed him.

Hollywood whore's have no credibility..... As far as I am concerned, there is not a person in Hollywood worth the spit on the sidewalk... Only idiot snowflakes put credibility in Hollywood scumbags.

Spoken like a true American. Not.

What she did is trash the American people. Her "performance" had nothing to do with every day Americans. Her performance was her acting role of a lifetime. Sophie's choice-Hillary or Donald. She bet and she lost. Ask her how many Muslim refugees she has invited into her home. Ask her how many mentally challenged people she has contributed to. Then ask her how much money she invested into the Clinton campaign. A real page turner for this suffering artist who was treated so terribly by America and Americans. She wants to debate the middle class, the working class, those that not only pulled themselves up by their bootstraps but continue every day to do so, then she should come on this site. We don't act out the life we've heard about we talk about the lives we've lived. Trump may have done some stuff that he later regrets but my money is on him. I'll take a man who puts it all on the line for the people versus a person who puts nothing on the line except her opinion.

Well said.

Piers Morgan, diehard Meryl Streep fan, got it absolutely right that she had every opportunity, given her stature and popularity, to be a positive influence and take the high road last night. And she failed miserably.

And this is as good a place as any to post the rebuttal re that "mocking of a disabled reporter" lie the left is so fond of repeating and repeating and repeating and repeating and. . . .

Did Trump really mock reporter's disability? Videos could back him up | Fox News

If those who know the truth do not keep repeating it as often as those promoting the lies, there is no chance that the liars will be exposed as liars and too many will never know the truth.

But you do sound like someone who enjoyed Clint Eastwood's talk with the chair. Maybe even have a John Wayne poster on the wall? :lamo

And a Ted Nugent signed picture disc proudly displayed next to one of those mounted Billybob talking fish.

"Meryl Streep is excellent; she’s a fine person, too!"

Trump, last year.

Heh, this wouldn't surprise me.

In 2008, Trump said Hillary was a great woman and would make a good president. In 2016, before he was elected, he called her crooked Hillary and said he would put her in jail. Now that he's been elected president, he's praised her a few times since he's been elected, she's going to his inauguration, and any talk of him "putting her in jail" has completely vanished. Heck, he basically told his supporters that it was "campaign talk".

Unlike Trump who burnishes his image with a phony charity, Meryl Streep is one of the most philanthropic stars in Hollywood. Also unlike Trump, she doesn't boast about her charity work, or about anything else she's accomplished for that matter. Unlike Trump with his inherited fortune, she is self made and, like it is for every great actor, her career has been about putting it all on the line. She made two points in her speech. The first was about Trump's bullying. The second was about Trump's daily undermining of a free press. She was right about both.

.

Don't know what Morgan meant about Streep not taking the high road, but I guess he meant she should have looked above the real world. Instead she looked right at it, which was better.

Impressive resume you wrote. It does not change my opinion that she was out of line and dishonest when she could have been uplifting and encouraging.

All you have to do is read Morgan's piece to know what he meant. Those were my words not his, but his message came shining through. What Streep did was petty, dishonest, and counterproductive. She could have done a good thing and instead she improperly politicized what should have been a celebratory event and she could have been uplifting and encouraging instead of trying to prevent anything positive from happening.

That's exactly it. I support her opposition to Trump. I also oppose Trump. I didn't vote for him and probably never would. But I wouldn't use an inappropriate forum to air my grievances about him. These Hollywood types and entertainers do this too often. Go on the show circuits or Tweet or host fundraisers. Just don't use the Cecil B. deMille award ceremony at the Golden Globes to do it.

She was speaking from the heart about a performance that was very personal for her.

She deserves the freedom to speak. If you run the golden globes, you can tell the speakers what is or is not off limits. If you don't, you can't.

If you think Trump is my hero,,,,, then you are an idiot.
