US Has Long History Of Influencing Elections

Please show evidence that we are going to be easier. Putin got away with invading and taking over part of another country under Obama. How can it possibly get any easier than that?

Putin was placed under sanctions for his actions. Trump and his cult are exceedingly unlikely to even take that step--- many of them don't even seem to think we should bother defending the Baltic States(which are our allies) if Russia should invade.

the fun part will be when they release the info from the RNC hacks.

Amazing? Isn't it?

For 8 years the same people who criticized Obama for not being tough enough with Putin and the Russians are now excusing Putin and what they did simply because of politics. Their boy Trump is happily bending over for Putin, so now those same people want us to go easier on the Russians then they accused Obama of being.

amazing!

It's not amazing. It's infuriating and traitorous. It's a travesty. A few other things many "conservatives" are apparently now OK with:
* Illegal operations by foreign agents targeting U.S. citizens
* Foreign meddling in U.S. elections
* Excusing criminals for their crimes and instead blaming the victims for not being properly defended
* Denigrating and undermining American institutions

I used to disagree with but mostly respect American conservatives. Now too many have gone the full talk radio route: no sense of proportion, no sense of decorum, no sense of justice, no sense of reality.

Just no sense.

This is way beyond political hypocrisy. This is shameful and disgusting.

What sane person would post supportive messages for Trump without payment?

Now too many have gone the full talk radio route:

That is a HUGE problem with American Conservatives now. They listen to talk radio and it causes them to NOT think for themselves. I see it here daily, they start threads based on some nonsense they heard on the radio, but because they didn't do their own homework the thread is shot down within 3-4 posts.

They don't realize the AM Radio Con talking heads are never questioned because their shows and callers are filtered. But it's not filtered here. So here they get their asses handed to them.

the fun part will be when they release the info from the RNC hacks.

That won't be fun. I have little doubt they hacked or attempted to hack the RNC, gathered as much intel as possible, and released only what they saw as beneficial at the moment. What they see as beneficial will certainly change over time. The threat here is being downplayed to a dangerous degree. This is about more than partisan politics.

Many on the American right devolving into braindead traitors is no cause for celebration.

Certainly some of the dumber posters just ape what they hear on the radio. But they're of no consequence.

What's troubling to me are the underlying subversive messages that intelligent people have started taking to heart: the "MSM" can't be trusted, only "conservative" media; science and the educated can't be trusted; governmental institutions can't be trusted.

We've set up a false dichotomy with no sense of proportion. The New York Times, however flawed, is not a counterbalance to Breitbart or even Fox or CNN.

In reality, the Times and other real media outlets, while certainly ideologically tinged, as we all are, employ trained journalists who interview sources, mine data, and present vetted information. Fox and CNN do that to a lesser degree but put greater weight on spin doctors and talking heads. Breitbart doesn't do journalism at all. Conservative media vs. mainstream media are not two sides to a media coin, but propaganda vs. information.

There is no equivalency between the two, not in a rational world. But on the right, many have retreated from the rational world. That's what I mean by the "talk radio route." They've replaced healthy skepticism with slavish devotion to disbelief.

you are correct

The emails the Russians stole directly affected the election; people's minds were changed by the information contained in the leaks(of course, it is extremely likely only the most provactive emails were released by the Russians and their collaborators at Wikileaks). This was seen in the polling trends leading towards the end of the election.

In other words, you have no proof, only your opinion.

Out comes the crystal ball again.
