The last time Congressional Democrats peaceably accepted a GOP victory in the Electoral College was 1988. In 2000, 2004 and 2016, Democrats in Congress objected, tried to object, and generally disrupted the process of certifying the Electoral College vote. They did so with no substantive grounds, instead just for the political theater of it. . . .

This is part of a pattern of a specific species of political norm-smashing where Democrats seem to be leading the way: Refusing to concede when they lose.

Mike Dukakis was the last Democratic presidential nominee to concede on Election Night. Liberal protestors in many states shouted and protested the Electoral College votes last month, without any valid grounds for objection. . . .

When Democrats lose they are a lot slower to concede, it seems. Maybe it’s a deliberate strategy. Maybe it’s a coincidence. Maybe I’m wrong in perceiving this pattern. But I expect this practice to spread, which won’t be good for politics.

I seem to remember that repubs did not accept Obama and refused to support him in anything he did. So the shoe is on the other foot. Deal with it.

In all three of those years listed, we had relatively close elections which had in them lots of chicanery. 2000 was an absolute mess with an outcome that only a Republican could love. 2004 had plenty of accusations about voter suppression in states like Ohio and FL. I'm not sure those were ever resolved. And, this recent election defied the polls, including exist polls in the states Trump narrowly won.

The libruls still have not accepted the results of the 2000 election. The poor things just do not take defeat well.

It's funny watching liberals heads exploding . The demoRATS are in the crapper and taxpayers have flushed twice ! :lol: I will help speed up the process you lost the House , the Senate , 1042 seats , along with the presidency ! And it will be fun picking those 100 federal judges and someone actually smart for the Supreme Court . Hope that make liberals feel the pain . :lol:

Republicans didn't lose their **** like Democrats have been doing.

I don't remember Republican voters rioting, torching things and beating up Obama voters days after the elections in 2008 and 2012. Yeah, there were the usual racist punks who made their presence known with their threats and slurs, but there wasn't anything on the level of what we saw since the days after Trump won.

Meh.
Obama administration got the vast majority of their cabinet picks fairly quickly, so any 'refused to support' must have happened after that.
Doesn't seem that this is the case now.

Ironic post of the New Year for sure. I guess you completely missed all the howls of election fraud and rigged systems being brandied about by the GOP for at least a decade, all of which suddenly came to an abrupt halt about five minutes after Trump was announced the winner. :roll:

Being that the GOP is now planning on increasing the Nation Debt by TRILLIONS and cut taxes for the rich and businesses, I think we are ALL going to feel the pain.

Correct, but you cannot ignore the Fact that had the Repubs lost they would be doing the exact same thing, the weeks leading up to the election are still on record.

Obama increased it by 10 trillion and since when did the demoRATS worry about our debt ? Actually cutting taxes will provide more jobs and get more deadbeat off the government tit , and they will be forced to work for a living for once in their lives .

Yes, that was as abrupt a change as the Democrats made when they went from calling for acceptance of the election results to calling for recounts, crying and whining about the popular vote, and so on.

If you'll excuse me, my dog just told me that the Russians pooped on the carpet in the living room.;)

I do believe the GOP'ers accepted BO's election. They didn't accept his policies and corruption. Big difference. I think the leftists don't understand that, but what's new?
