Seeing that Trump is a complete novice to politics, China is trying its best to try to teach Trump some basics of international diplomacy and etiquette before he takes office, as it seems Americans themselves can't do it. It is not clear this new hillbilly president is educable, however.

"The obsession with 'Twitter diplomacy' is undesirable," said the bylined commentary, which only appeared on the agency's Chinese website. Xinhua is the biggest and most influential of China's state-run media.

"It is a commonly accepted that diplomacy is not a child's game -- and even less is it business dealing. As former United States Secretary of State [Madeleine] Albright said, Twitter should not be a tool for foreign policy," the commentary, which was published this week, said....However, The Global Times, a provocative but state-sanctioned tabloid, has gone further, calling Trump "ignorant as a child in foreign policy" and "pandering to irresponsible attitudes."...

In an interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" in November, Trump suggested that after being officially sworn in as president he'd be "very restrained" on Twitter.

There are few signs yet that that's likely to happen.

"Tweeting has become a habit for Mr. Trump," the Chinese commentary said."

I'm not surprised China is saying this stuff about Trump. He's been tweeting a bunch of crap about them for years now.

As long as it still works Trump will use it, that's how practical people roll.

Given China's behavior, their words don't mean much.

How interesting that you automatically take the side of China. Me? I tend to favour the democracy, you know the USA, where people actually get to elect their government.

I think Trump brings a breath of fresh air to the stale atmosphere of diplomacy.

I don't know if I would put practical and Trump in the same sentence, but I agree he keeps twitter. He is very effective at using twitter to keep up with the maintenance of his base. In fact, he is even more likely to keep it now that China has called him out on it.

Social media is huge, people and movements who use it well tend to win politically, Trump is part of that truth. The question on the table is how does a President use Twitter effectively? Nobody knows, Trump is experimenting. I personally would like him to use it only as a way to communicate with the American people about what he is doing, sometimes using it to give directions for what we can do to help him, using it for international diplomacy is a bridge too far I think. But then again most of the times when I thought that I knew better than Trump I have been wrong so....

I imagine he will have a twitter filter in place as president. Someone to refine what he says and use it to directly communicate with people. He is obviously unpredictable, but I still can't imagine him, as president, tweeting about celebrities or conspiracies.

I fear China is going to have to be the adult in this relationship.

I fear China is going to have to be the adult in this relationship.

The relationship between children and adults is often one where the adult has an inherent interest in helping the child grow and develop. I don't think China, Russia, or any of these other countries have any interest in really guiding or nurturing the personal growth of Donald Trump in politics. They are, at this point, probably more interested in taking the opportunity to exploit his complete ignorance and lack of experience to advance their own agendas. They will not let this golden opportunity go to waste, I am sure. No wonder Putin was so interested in getting Trump elected. Nothing like getting the US out of his hair by having a useful idiot at the helm.

But yeah, Trump is going to "shake things up" alright.
