WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald J. Trump has selected Scott Pruitt, the Oklahoma attorney general and a close ally of the fossil fuel industry, to run the Environmental Protection Agency, signaling Mr. Trump’s determination to dismantle President Obama’s efforts to counter climate change — and much of the E.P.A. itself.

Mr. Pruitt, a Republican, has been a key architect of the legal battle against Mr. Obama’s climate change policies, actions that fit with the president-elect’s comments during the campaign. Mr. Trump has criticized the established science of human-caused global warming as a hoax, vowed to “cancel” the Paris accord committing nearly every nation to taking action to fight climate change, and attacked Mr. Obama’s signature global warming policy, the Clean Power Plan, as a “war on coal.”

Mr. Pruitt has been in lock step with those views.

“Scientists continue to disagree about the degree and extent of global warming and its connection to the actions of mankind,” he wrote in National Review earlier this year. “That debate should be encouraged — in classrooms, public forums, and the halls of Congress. It should not be silenced with threats of prosecution. Dissent is not a crime.”

Fossil fuel lobbyist-turned-politician named to head the EPA? Well, color me stunned.

Congratulations, Trumpanzees. The morons are now in charge.

Great move! Best to get the whack job activist tree hugger flotsam out of the EPA, so it can return to it's actual mission.

The Progressive radicals at the EPA who came up with agendas like "Environmental Justice" need to be flushed, and the agency disinfected.

Yes, drain the swamp indeed. And replace that with the cool, clear water of reason. Good for Trump. This is turning out much better than I thought it would.

Appointing a fossil fuel advocate and critic of the expansionist policies of the EPA for the head of the EPA isn't as good as asking Congress to ABOLISH the EPA, but it's a step in the right direction, IMO.

Re: Trump continues to drain the swamp, replace with worse swampwater

He also appointed Linda McMahon to his presidential cabinet.

Trump's picks keep on getting better and better.

Two members of the Trump administration have been on the receiving end of Stone Cold Stunners.

The morons are butt hurt. And make up ridiculous names for their adversaries.

Maybe I'm "butt hurt" because we elected a grifter who is flushing our country down the toilet, thanks to Moron-Americans who thought electing an orange was a good idea?

I will NEVER forgive Trump voters for the disaster they foisted upon this country; nor will I forgive the DNC for putting up the only candidate who could have lost to him.

Dark times are ahead. Donald Trump is already the worst President of my lifetime.

Of course. Let oil company shills run the EPA. What could go wrong?

DT isn't the President.

You are clearly still in shock from finding out how little electoral power the progressive movement has in America as this time. I suggest you figure out why this is. Being a poor loser will not help your cause.

What needs flushing is career politicians that have no concept of the real world and the people who live in it, environmental idiots that pass policies that prohibit light bulbs from being manufactured in the US. Economic specialists who think redistribution is the only way to go. Educators who believe the system should put PC ahead of actual useful skills. People who think it's the job of the US to be the dumping ground for the world's problems.

Leave the whiners though. I'll put up with 4 years of liberal whining in exchange for Conservative wins in the midterms and 2016.

DT isn't the President.

And yet he's already awful. Who'dathunkit.

So? What do you have against Linda McMahon?
Two members of the Trump administration have been on the receiving end of Stone Cold Stunners.

Seems a little overdramatic...or a lot overdramatic.

He's not President yet and he's not actually done anything except work to assemble a team of advisers. It's hard to say he's the worst President before he's even stepped into office.

But here, I'll make you feel better. You seem disappointed in who Trump has selected as advisers, but just think back to the campaign season and remember just how well he listened to his advisers. Maybe that will make you feel better (or possibly worse, I suppose).

Ah, the politics of spite. Enjoy them while Cheeto Mussolini and his band of thieves strip down the country for parts the next four years.

No, I'm pissed off that the inmates are now running the asylum. You wanted your little "revolution," well, now you've got it, and Trump has proceeded to prove how full of dog feces he was during his entire campaign. Yet you still can't stop worshiping him.

These are not "advisers," these are people who will very likely be confirmed as members of his cabinet.

You're correct, but he's strong in paving the way for America to go straight to hell and folks like you are cheerleading him on.

...what do you think the Cabinet does?

The Cabinet is the President's most trusted advisers. That's the entire point of the Cabinet.
My favorite is Pro Wrestling magnet Linda McMahon for SBA. Now that really is Idiocracy-like.
Why?

The Cabinet frames and creates policy. They don't just offer suggestions.

I really don't think any of his choices so far are all that great, but maybe I'll be surprised. Who knows.

She's also a megadonor to the "Donald Trump Foundation," which smacks of a little pay-for-play. Hmmm, I wonder who complained about THAT in regards to the Clintons. Oh, that's right, every wingnut ever.

They're all pretty much awful. The SecDef thinks he's George Patton, and he's the BEST of the current crew.

Trump has done little more than appoint lobbyists whose careers up until now consisted of destroying the entities they will now be in charge of. But hey, give the guy a chance, amirite?
