I'm a Democrat but I've gotta admit it's now Trump 2, Dems 0 | Fox News

Following President-elect Trump's surprise phone call on Friday with the Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, the response has been predictable if not disheartening. Academics in D.C. this morning are claiming that, “Trump…doesn’t have clue.” An expert at the University of California added that the call was “impulsive.”

Regrettably, my Democratic Party pushed back too. By its measure, Trump demonstrated his “incompetence” and threatened our national security. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) went so far as to say that Trump’s actions might push the nation into war with China.

What academics and my party don’t understand is that he’s not interested in starting a war. He simply recognizes that we’re already in one. And he’s giving voice to its long-suffering victims: millions of voters in places like North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan.
Read the whole article. Democrats would be wise to stop fighting this, and get onboard. The Clinton train is over; time to move on. The problems of America aren't between the Beltway and the borders, they're inside the Beltway and outside the borders.

Trump "seems" to be doing what Obama and others failed to do. Put America first.

It's almost unimaginable that we could actually have a President that puts the good of the nation above all else.

Seems every move he makes is Presidential unlike 99% of what Obama did or Bush for that matter.

But it's early yet and he's surrounded by Billionaires and Millionaires. Hopefully they won't forget us down here.

Sadly, the gravy train is long and laden and there are MANY who benefit immensely from government corruption. They will NOT be happy if Trump cuts off their taxpayer funded gravy.
Trump needs to be very keen to this lurking danger.

You mean he did something that looked Presidential? What was that?

Did you read the OP's linked article?

I guess that includes his family's line that gets produced overseas right? When SPECIFICALLY is he exactly bringing his production lines back in the U.S.?

I said this all through the election since I have been here, and I will say it again........everything Trump does is calculated, planned, watched, changed if it does not work......often packaged into his WWE style politics. Trump learned decades ago that he wins more when people underestimate him, so he being no dummy encourages just this with his WWE act, his pride can take it, Trump believes it is the winning that matters.

People just cant believe it, their brains go "TILT".

If you seriously believe that (bolded above) then rational discussion with you is unlikely. The problem with many "Trumpisms" is that they lack any substance. Saying things like "TrumpCare will replace ObamaCare and be great" is simply nonsense because Trump has never stated what TrumpCare is (or is not). He often hints at some aspects of a "new and great" federal medical care insurance policy with subsidies but that precisely what PPACA is and he also says that he likes "parts of it" (yet another Trumpism).

It is the getting things done that people care about, that Trump does so well.

You are a lost blind man with no cane(Figuratively).

What a smart and honest appraisal.

I see this guy Bryan White, becoming a Republican soon as he has got to see that the Democrats are not even trying to make the best of this for the country's sake. These type sentiments have, seemingly, 'evolved' out of the Democrat genes.

Well, looking at what the man has already done is pretty amazing. I would say he's done more for the nation before even being inaugurated than the present POTOUS did for the nation in 8 years. In fact, the current President simply used the nation for his own benefit....actually harmed the nation...to the detriment of all. (well, he did light up the White House in rainbow colors if you consider that a great achievement)

I think you're focusing too much on the pre-election show. Sure, he was a bit bombastic at times. But many liked the way he spoke his mind instead of being politically correct. Americans are nauseated at political correctness. Perhaps you put too much faith in some of the accusations of the left driven media?

There are two possible directions for the country at this point. We are, or at least have been, an empire. We can either act like one, or not (those are our two possible directions). If the point is to act like an empire and attempt worldwide hegemony, it is the correct move to provoke China. Anybody ought to be able to see that, but partisan thinking (this time from my side of the fence) blinds us all to something.

The fact is that, at least with the trajectory we've been on, America has been getting economically weaker while China and Russia become economically stronger. In another 20 years, on that trajectory, China and Russia would dominate the world, and the U.S. would be a soi-distant third fiddle (about the same level of power as wielded by England, Brazil, or Australia currently). For their part, China's plans to ratchet itself up the ladder require U.S. participation. If the plan is to maintain hegemony, we must upset China's plans starting now. It hasn't yet reached the point where we need to start a bombs-and-all war, but that may still come. It would at least give us an excuse to default on our debts to the Chinese.

Okay, so as independent as you say you are, we can count you out for the next 4 years at least?

Look, you introduced the Trumpcare thing, and I'm not sure if you're trying to derail this thread or what. But you are talking about stuff that hasn't been introduced yet. This article is about what's he's done so far and why, not the future.

I'm going to hold my praise or criticism until after the first 100 days... right now this is a lot of hoo-ha. The only thing Trump has accomplished at this point is he's won the Presidency --- an amazing feat actually and against all odds. Kudos. Now lets see what he ACTUALLY does and can get accomplished. He's a helluva showman and he knows how to manipulate the news cycles and talking points of the day but that don't mean squat, unless he actually accomplishes something.

He's made race relations worse, and that's his whole background. Read his books and look what's he was involved prior to being President. There's a racial motivation in everything he ever did, including his stint at Harvard.

I don't know who started the whole first 100 days thing, but it's a bull**** tradition that needs to be abandoned. I don't believe in it.

How did he make race relations worse? I'm afraid I don't see it. Looks to me like race relations were already pretty bad in this country. If Obama did anything, he simply pointed to that fact, which would be a necessary first step towards making them better.

Seems to me that Obama did a great deal of good for this country...which does not mean I can't acknowledge when Trump makes a good move, as I did earlier.

I would be very happy were Trump to surprise me and am actually waiting with curiosity to see how this goes.

"Trayvon could have been my son" << And that was only the beginning. Bringing chaos to race relations, not doing enough about the riots. He didn't call out BLM for the lie that started it "Hand up don't shoot", fostered a false narrative to a problem that does exist sometimes; but not the level that BLM makes it. And it shifted the balance of blame completely off the black community. But we are veering off topic here; unless that's your goal?

I'm sure you do that for every president.
