Is America really a nation?

USA contains people of many ethnic and religious backgrounds. America has never been in a severe war with a foreign state.

Uhhh... what? What about the Revolutionary War? World War I? World War II? Korea? Vietnam?

Is there such thing as American nationalism? Moreover, is there such thing as American nation?

Yes. There are 50 states that make up the nation of the United States. Common laws. Common values. Common language. Common borders.

There is very much a nation of the United States. Much MUCH more than the old USSR which was a grouping of oppressed nations.

I left USSR at age 12.5. I thought that I came to the Land of The Free. But US incarceration rate is highest in the World.

It is free because we have laws... that is the whole point. We have rights. Most nations have very few rights of the people.

and yet USA has the highest incarceration rate in the World. Why?

Different states have very different laws. US South has the same incarceration rate as USSR in the peak of Stalin's repression.

Because people violate people's rights. What does that have to do with our freedoms, which are some of the highest and best in the world?

I answered your question. We are a nation.

What you are offering is a Red Herring.

OK, perhaps Americans better understand their country then I do.

The Korean War had nothing to do with white racism.

Of course our young generation has no right to judge soldiers who served USA.

But US tactics during Korean War had been based on white racism to a great extent -- thus USA inflicted large casualties on North Korean civilians in order to secure advantage and minimize losses of US Army. During Vietnam War, there was a new generation of hippies who protested vehemently and verbally abused soldiers.

Modern political values in USA are very different. The only thing constant in USA is disregard for Human Rights.

No, they weren't. They were based on killing the North Korean invaders and their Chinese supporters and driving them back across the border. Racism had exactly zero to do with it.

Hippies have nothing to do with this.

What "disregard for human rights"?

What "disregard for human rights"?

Disregard for human rights is a long standing US tradition. Many Americans in 18th century came as convicts from England. Slavery and persecution of Native Americans was an enormous violation of human rights. The wars USA conducted in the 20th century starting with Philippines, atomic bombing of Japan, Korea and Vietnam contained mass attacks on civilians. In this century USA is distinguished by the highest Incarceration Rate.

Uh.....that's not quite true. You are thinking of Australia in terms of a country which began as a penal colony. The main motivation for the colonists heading to America was either religion or money.

Slavery was crushed in the mid 1800s. The Native American wars were wars, not "persecution".

The US freed the Phillippines from Spain and later on from Japan. As a colonial power we were also one of the lenient ones around.

The atomic bombing of Japan was necessary and indeed moral. Without it millions of Japamese civillians, military, and allied personnel would have died.

Korea was a completely justified war. We saved the South Koreans.

Vietnam was also justified.

People commit crimes and go to jail. So what? It's not like your country where peopled were routinely murdered and thrown in jail for no reason.

Frankly, you don't know much about America and it shows.

We disagree on many points.

Another example is people with disability. In USA they get almost no help. I have Depression and Autism. In Europe and Canada, such people get a good assistance.

My brother is autistic. He's gotten plenty of help.

I wish you and him the best of luck. In most European nations and Canada and Australia, help for welfare and disability is much better then in USA.

actually most came to escape religious persecution including millions that escaped russian persecution. the fact that you are unaware of the 5 million or so jews in the US that escaped various european persecutions is very suspect

The Jews came at the end of 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Lack of antisemitism is one of the positive aspects of USA. USA does have virtues.

Absolutely. Like not having g a dictator leader who regularly kills his political opposition and slaughtering journalists who dare to ever speak anything negative about him. I can go online and say "trump is a complete dip****" and I don't have to worry about former KGB agents kicking in my door or pouring polonium in my soup.

Of course. But if you criticize American Liberals too much you will be blacklisted. In Russia most people would be extremely offended by anti-Russian speech because Russia has three factors strengthening nationalism:

-- Orthodox Christianity
-- Russian ethnicity
-- Great War with Germany
