A week ago, the grip of the old-school media elite was busted, but few seemed to have noticed this remarkable shift.

The top dogs in the media came to him expecting to discuss their access to him, instead he blasted them as deceitful, dishonest liars who should be ashamed.

Over the last forty years the mainstream media have degenerated into naked, unashamed political advocacy, yet conservative leaders still felt they had to pander for fear that they would get an even worse treatment if they called it for what it was. Not Donald Trump. Has there ever been a more powerful US president? They called him every name under the sun, and he took the insults and used them to win.

Trump doesn't give a damn. Consider the hysteria about Steve Bannon. Racist! Alt-Right! Anti-Semite! White Nationalist! Misogynist! Trump didn't give a damn, and, incredibly enough, no Republicans came forward to try to gain favor with the media by denouncing Bannon. And Bannon is still on the transition staff.

Its sad that we dont have a press that acts as legitimate watchdog for the people.

Yes it is. The news media gave it up long ago when they started editorializing many stories with their political slant.

I doubt most people other than the opposition or junkies looking for a fix really care about most things the press cares about, including these scandals of the day.

Trump is too much of a narcissist to keep the press away from him for long. It won't be long before he calls a press conference to lay on some more outrageous delusions; he had too much fun doing that during his campaign.

Trump didn't break the press, they broke themselves. Long ago.

What Trump did was he just turned the spotlight on the whole mess. Then everybody saw all the roaches scurrying around making the whole mess even messier to the point that MSM, which were questionable at best before the campaign...now its obvious to almost everybody that they are like referees who are supposed to be impartial being paid off to cheat for one team.

The people penalized that one team and now the press are a pariah.

Trump doesn't need "THE PRESS". He's got Fox news, The Daily Caller, RT, and Breitbart. The MSM can go pound sand.

What they do hear and have droned into their heads on a daily basis is left wing politics good and right wing politics bad. They may not put the effort into looking any deeper but that message sticks in thier heads.

He does, if he wants to satisfy his ego. And it's now incredibly easy to get them in a room and listen to him.

The worst thing is that in both my countries, Sweden and the UK, the state broadcasters are the most serious offenders.

I can't really comment in what sticks in other people's heads with any degree of authority. My personal opinion about the media, left right or center, is that the do too much commentary and inside baseball blather. Do any of them have a reporter on staff who can go out a stick a microphone in someone's face any more at the national level?

I have no doubt your correct. The news outlets in the US (main stream and non main stream) all have their political agenda. It shows up every day when you find out what one covers and what one does not. Or look at how different media edit footage and sound bites. Some say journalist should report just the facts. That when out when they all are trying to be the first to grab the "headline" or play the "what if" game, instead of waiting for the investigation reports to come out.

Govt. representatives do the same thing. Try to spin a story to fit the administrations agenda.

I have said it before. When looking at news, check and verify. That also goes for anything Trump says or any other politician/govt. official. There are good reporters/news anchors and some not so good. Same for elected officials.

I don't think Trump cares about the press because he goes right around them on Twitter. The were unfair to him so he simply ignores them. They may have to go back to good old investigative journalism. Months ago during the primary I suggested that a Trump win would represent the most entertaining result. I think I was right.
