Since many people on the left here are whining about Hillary winning more of the popular vote but losing the election due to the electoral college and wanting to abolish it, I have come up with a compromise solution that I believe is possible without having to go through the normal amendment process, which is almost impossible to do. This could be done at the individual state level, much the same as Maine and Nebraska. Any blue (or red) state who wanted to, could put a referendum on their state ballots to change the process to split electors instead of winner take all. That way, blue states could have what they want in their own state.
