Trump and the rise of far right media

So you know acknowledge that there is such as thing as the popular vote and its role in the election and you have backtracked from your previous statement that there is no such thing. Progress!!!!

So now guy admit that the popular vote does exist. Glad I could take you through the steps to help you with this. :2wave:

Your logic is flawed.

As I said, I didn't forget to mention any popular vote. I didn't mention it because it doesn't exist. It has no relevance when speaking of the Electoral College or selecting our President.

Many proposals were made at the constitutional convention on how to appoint a president, including the people directly ,this vote was taken on July 17th 1787

Question on an election by the people instead of the Legislature; which passed in the negative.

Mas. no. Cont. no. N.J. no. Pa. ay. Del. no. Md. no. Va. no. N.C. no. S.C. no. Geo. no. [Ayes--1; noes--9.]

all states cast a No except PENN.

Mr. Gerry--A popular election in this case is radically vicious. The ignorance of the people would put it in the power of some one set of men dispersed through the Union & acting in Concert to delude them into any appointment. He observed that such a Society of men existed in the Order of the Cincinnati. They were respectable, United, and influencial. They will in fact elect the chief Magistrate in every instance, if the election be referred to the people.--His respect for the characters composing this Society could not blind him to the danger & impropriety of throwing such a power into their hands.

I will save my exchanges for those who dwell in reality. For you to deny that the popular vote does not exist is simply contrary to reality. And anyone in that position is simply not worth anything more than I have already provided for you.

Okay.

The popular vote does exist. That's why we vote. Apparently you don't understand how elections work. Each of the 50 states plus DC vote and whoever wins the popular vote earns the electors from that state. Nebraska and Maine have a slight twist to their system, although they still award electors. When one person, we'll call him Donald Trump, wins 270 or more electors then that person has won the presidency. In this case, Trump won the popular vote in 32 out of 50 states, making him president elect. The election wasn't even close.
