Step One: FAIL

We shall see, I do not see trump in the same light as you, and while he may turn out to be a change for the better, he could also turn into a change for even worse.

He could even be worse than Obama.

Nope. It was not the establishment that failed. It was the citizenry. It is the same failure that brought on Obama.

Can you elaborate a little on that please?

Will not quibble with you on that as we cannot predict the future. I already like what I am seeing, however.

While I am not bitter, I do hate the constant disappointment. Reagan was the only one in my lifetime that could continuously keep me hoping. And I hope Trump will also be not just a good leader, but a decent and great one. If he is not, if he starts to go off the rails, if he shows himself to be a part of the establishment I abhor, I will be right there with you, shoulder to shoulder trying to hold him to task.

He could even be worse than Obama.

At this point we do not know, the cabinet selections are different and some of his current rhetoric seems off and yes could actually be worse, far worse.

they really don't get it.

today CNN is running with an article on their front page showing Trump's approval rating.

we are two weeks from them claiming this election will put the polling companies are out of business.

Yet here they are - running their propaganda engine at full speed again.

To be fair, they have nothing to talk about but speculation at this point. Since they make their money by talking, they're gonna talk even if there's nothing to talk about. If you woke up to a news broadcast that only reported actual events, and just reported the facts of those events, you could absorb the news in ten minutes or less, including the weather. Thus, we get a feed of people riding the elevators at Trump Towers. It's pure speculation, and it's actually pretty funny to watch the breathlessness with which it's reported.

I thought it was quite obvious that it was the citizenry that voted the candidates into that position. Possibly the Democrat elite was more successfully manipulative, but in both cases, the voters did it themselves.

reality:

republicans won congress and the presidency.
Not to mention gained governorships and leads in state congress.

yes...despite the Snowflake State, the rest of the country is pretty much resolved. You can kick and stomp and act like a spoiled child, but at the end of the day, leftists dont even trust leftists to run their government. Maybe people are tired of looking at the major cities and seeing what happens when rats govern.

There are no "mandates." There is only power. And as of right now, Democrats have an historic lack of it.

I didn't say the Democrats were dead. But they have been historically shellacked, unlike the story you're trying to peddle here, and if they continue along the path you're on, pretending nothing's wrong, that their message is "really" winning, it's going to be a long, tough, miserable road back.

 No skin off me if you're loath to receive the lesson, though. You keep doin' what you're doin'.

The Pendulum will swing back, if not in 4 years, probably eight.

LOL.

If Reagan were alive today, Trump's minions would be calling him part of the "establishment". Who are you trying to fool.

Eventually, probably. But the longer "progressives" stay in denial about it, the longer it will take.

Oh lord, what cesspool did you get "progs" from now, Lowdown? It sounds like you're arguing against a synthetic robot race from another planet rather than the usual "anyone not as conservative as me."

I'm sure you realize it's short for "progressives". Like "pubs", "cons", etc. for Republicans or conservatives. I like "progs" because it rhymes with "frogs", and the French are pretty progressive as a group, c'est vrai?

Lets see
1- Dems gain US Senate seats
2- Dems gain US House seats
3- Almost two million more people vote for the Dem candidate for Prez than the GOP candidate

some recipe for failure you have there. :doh:roll:

Veracity of all of the statements of the OP aside, the Democratic party has found itself in a very bad position.

It was not too long ago that the Democrats were saying that the Republican Party was being relegated to becoming a regional rather than national party. That alignment, according to Congressman Tim Ryan and others in the Democratic Party, has reversed. Yet, I don't agree. The Democratic Party is a strong and vital element of our national governance.

The issue is that the Democrats have seemed to limit themselves to what appears to many average Americans to be fringe, or strictly minority, or rebellious issues rather than focusing on what the party used to focus on - what mattered to the average middle class Americans in their daily lives.

Also, the Democrats by changing their focus as I described above, and by focusing on strengthening and enlarging the federal government, have lost the races for the government positions that matter most to the average American - state and local elections. Following the 2016 election, this is what happened to the Democratic Party:

Out of 50 states, there are 33 GOP governors with 16 Democrats and 1 Independent. Two thirds are controlled by the GOP.

Out of 99 state legislative chambers, 68 are Republican, and 31 are Democrat. Over a two thirds majority of control by the GOP.

The GOP controls both houses of the legislatures in 32 states, and the Democrats control both houses in 13 states. Again, over a two to one majority by the GOP.

The GOP controls state governments that represent 61% of the US population, and the Democrats control state government that represents 28% of the US population. Again, a two to one majority for the GOP.

In case the numbers don't seem real to you, the source I used was that well known right wing rag of a GOP echo chamber (sarcasm) - The Daily Kos

If we did not have that archaic relic designed to thwart the will of the majority, today the Dems would be celebrating the election of another Democrat as President by some two million votes over her opponent. And that would be considered a great victory.

Reagan's platform was not that different from Trump's. Cut taxes, cut regulations, increase military spending, getting better trade deals, enforce immigration laws, appoint conservative justices and judges, make federal lands available for oil production, increase jobs, and so on. However, the populist message from Trump was muted with Reagan, but then the country was facing a different set of problems back then.

If you're going to change the rules for this election I think that Trump is entitled to a do over.

A LOT of people seem to be in denial as to the straits the Democrats currently find themselves in.

I keep hearing the recurring theme from the Left about how Hillary got so much more of the popular vote and I think this is an illusion.

I think California for example is on the extreme end of corrupt Democrat tactics.
We know for a fact that California Democrats have enacted many policies that basically assist illegal immigrants. Sanctuary cities are just one example.

We also know that California (the Democrats there) fight hard to give illegal immigrants drivers licenses and fight any notion of voter ID.

It is a failure of objectivity to not question WHY all these things were done.

Given the fact that the Democrat President openly assured illegals that they would not be pursued should they vote, and given the obvious lack of border crossing enforcement over the last 8 years, I think it is borderline insanity to come to the conclusion that there was not a large number of illegals who illegally voted in the November Presidential race. A staggering number in California alone.

Given the above, it seems at least reasonable to assume there was until it can be uncovered.
My thoughts are that now that we finally have a chance to uncover the corruption of the last 8 years, a lot will surface that Progs and the Left have been able to conveniently cover up and deny.

Remember when Obama said "not even a smidgen of corruption", and then it was found to be an absolute lie?
Remember when Obama and the Democrats said "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor"?
Remember the illegal meeting on the privates jets between Clinton and the head of the DOJ?
Remember the falsehoods Obama and Kerry claimed about the Iran nuclear dealings?

I'm going to say now that the Obama administration has been THE most corrupt administration in US history...and that over the next 4 years some startling revelations will be exposed.
(Unless Mr. Trump, like all the others before him fall victim to establishment power and corruption. Which unfortunately is likely in my opinion).

It just the obvious. Common sense. No rocket science.

Clinton did not win the popular vote...she won a lot of illegal votes, illegally. I say we'll learn about some of this...next year.

Dems lost under the rules as they are. We have elections with the Constitution as it is, not as you might want it to be. Dems control almost nothing in the US now above the municipal government level.

horse****, as usual.

if the rules were different, the guy that won would of used different methodology to win.

as much as you want the vote disparity in L.A. county to wipe out the popular vote victory in the remaining 99.9% of the country - sorry, not going to happen.

Thank you for another vivid example of why the Democratic Party is not connecting with the average American.

The Democrats continue to demonstrate how they feel that the US Constitution with its various parts is an archaic relic. We should make a list:

Article I in its entirety is an archaic relic - Executive orders, a pen, and a phone are all you need.

Article II, Section 1 is an archaic relic - We should just let the CEO of the country do what he wants, for as long as he wants, and allow the cities to have sway over the states and the people in the election of the CEO.

Article II, Section 4 is an archaic relic - Lying under oath and covering it up are okay in our book, or so the Democrats have said.

Article IV in its entirety is an archaic relic - We don't need state governments to have any real power, just do what the Federal Government tells you be quiet.

The 1st Amendment, specifically Freedom of Speech, is an archaic relic - We should outlaw hate speech and impose regulations that require the usage of certain politically correct terms that if you do not use them, you will be punished.

The 2nd Amendment is an archaic relic - We don't have muskets anymore and only the government should be armed.

The 4th Amendment is an archaic relic - Obama expanded the reach of the wiretapping and spying on US citizens, but the GOP has been no better.

The 5th Amendment is an archaic relic - When you can't get to a US citizen and bring them to court for Due Process, just use a drone and a missile.

The 6th Amendment is an archaic relic - No Fly, No Buy. Guns are so dangerous that the all powerful Federal Government doesn't have to allow a person to have legal representation or confront their accuser to have a right (right to keep and bear arms) taken away. Of course, once we get rid of the 2nd Amendment this will be moot.

The 10th Amendment is an archaic relic - State powers? Powers of the people? That's funny. Centralized power within a central all powerful national government is all we need. In fact, we shouldn't even call it a federal government anymore, since the states will become nothing more than an enforcement arm of the national government.

The 12th Amendment is an archaic relic - The power of the people is all that should matter - oh wait - that kind of conflicts with what we want above of the 10th Amendment. Well, we'll just ignore that for now.

The 14th Amendment is an archaic relic - No Fly, No Buy. The PPACA will force you to buy a product, and tell you what it has to include, or you get fined. And, so on infinitum. Oh yeah, since the states don't matter anymore, lets do away with that pesky thing where the states draw Congressional districts according to apportionment by the census. The national government should do that through the DOJ and the courts.

And, so on.

Yup, an archaic relic. We should just burn the thing and start over.

If you're going to change the rules for this election I think that Trump is entitled to a do over.

I would prefer Trump get a do over. Can you arrange it ?

Dems lost under the rules as they are. We have elections with the Constitution as it is, not as you might want it to be. Dems control almost nothing in the US now above the municipal government level.

Actually Dems lost under rules left over from the 1700's that republicans refuse to even consider changing because they perceive a political advantage in their inequality.

Sure he would have. :roll::shock:

If you're going to change the rules for this election I think that Trump is entitled to a do over.

it would be a landslide for Trump too.

the media and polling companies had everyone fooled into thinking Trump was a loser waiting to happen. now we know that was propaganda, he would get even more votes.
