This time was different.

The mainstream media and the Democrats brought every weapon they had to the fight against Stephen K. Bannon — and, by extension, Donald Trump, and 61 million deplorables.

For the first 24 hours, they had total control of the debate, and near-total control after that. They defined Bannon, and Breitbart, as antisemites, white nationalists, neo-Nazis. Who could survive that?

And yet Trump did not waver, and the Republican Party did not bend, and the conservative media did not break.

This time, there were no betrayals — no political leaders who tried to help themselves by abandoning the victim of an entirely false and unjustified attack.

Even most of Bannon’s critics and rivals in the conservative media declined to condemn him.

They understood: these were lies. And they knew: if we yield now, they will never stop.

The GOP has begun to learn from the honey badger. The honey badger doesn't care; he fights through venom and preys on predators.

The press openly and proudly abandoned objectivity trying to beat Trump. Now no one believes them.

It's sickening that the more casual observers of politics, those who just watch msm and believe it, are plastered by this absolute bull**** propaganda..

This is just wrong.. How can we let major news organizations be getting away with filling our population full of misinformation?

Great analogy.

As the election proved, the bulk of people living in States across the country saw through the lies and deceit, and made their voices heard. It didn't matter that the big population states on the east and west coast voted as directed, When it comes to states won, Hillary and her machine got their clocks cleaned.

Now we see the corrupt MSM loosing their minds in reporting on President Elect Trump to such an extent that even Axelrod has told them to calm down.

The MSM deserves everything that will be oozing from their cesspool of yellow journalism. It would be amazing to see the NYT go out of business, along with the frauds at WaPo, and others.

There is a surprisingly good article in the Hollywood Reporter that is a good read on Bannon and the frauds who tried to tell lies about him.

I highly recommend reading it.

Lies, deceit, fraud three main tactics of the left. It's nice to see people waking up.

Mainstream media demographics are middle aged-old.

Few under 40 (and I suspect almost no one under 20) get their news primarily from mainstream media any more.

Like television on the whole, it is dying out. And when their demographic dies out...mainstream media will (more or less) die with them.

I have believed for about a decade that anyone primarily getting their news from mainstream media has not a clue about the world around them.

The same goes for politicians...who have to be staggeringly naive/gullible to trust any of them to ANY remote degree, imo.

I assume everything mainstream media says is wrong and everything politicians say is a lie (until I have unbiased proof to the contrary). And I have for at least 8-10 years.

There is nothing "we" can do about it. On an individual level, one can take everything the media says with a huge grain of salt, but TPTB are firmly in control of what and how the public perceives any given issue.

Edward Bernays began officially manipulating the public perception more than a century ago. The government and the media are very well practiced at the art of deception.

A am not so easily discouraged..

When people I care about repeat msm lies rhetoric it's just like wow, this **** is really dangerous to our country..

Imagine what would be if most people still believed the crap, we would have a president kilary... What a catastrophe..

Most people DO still believe the crap, or maybe I'm just too damn cynical.

When what most of the American people believe is false, it appears the disinformation campaign is working very well.

There is a reason the alt-left has invested billions to create websites, think tanks, and "fact checking" sites. If the lies and fraud are to appear legitimate, the background support must be put in place.

Fortunately, the "fool some of the people some of the time" axiom is proving to be true.

For the sixth time in seven elections, the GOP lost the popular vote. This time by a significant margin.

They lost seats in the Senate.

They lost seats in the House.

They only won the presidency due to a relic from the 1700's designed to thwart the will of the people.

Your victory dance is much in question.

Everyone in the world is playing The Game. (Sometimes narrowed to: "Everybody in the world who knows about The Game is playing The Game", or alternatively, "You are always playing The Game.") A person cannot choose to not play The Game; it does not require consent to play and one can never stop playing.
Whenever one thinks about The Game, one loses.

A. Republicans have always 'fought' like that. It's nothing new.
B. Honey badgers are not venomous.
The press openly and proudly abandoned objectivity trying to beat Trump. Now no one believes them.

It must be nice, maintaing such fantasies and never having to trouble oneself with reality.

Yup. Apparently the "MSM" is now the biggest threat to the Right's collective safe space.

The honey badger analogy has already been used (on The Daily Show, I believe) though I'd have applied it differently than you did, wherein every awful thing Trump said or did would meet with a shrug of the shoulders and his supporters would say "Whatevs." And after every false story they'd cite and be challenged on they'd again shrug and simply move on to the next fake story without pause.

We are indeed a post-truth society, and I still haven't figured out how to handle that in the next four years. Even at the most contentious moments between liberals and conservatives during the Obama and Bush administrations there was the tacit agreement that, if only in principle, consistency and honesty were considered positive attributes. Trump's supporters have entirely abandoned that agreement, and where we go from here is unclear.

A. Republicans have always 'fought' like that. It's nothing new.

Nope. The GOP elephant is a mighty beast, but scared of mice.

B. Honey badgers are not venomous.

The phrase "fight through venom" refers to the honey badger's ability to tolerate bee stings and fight poisonous snakes.

It must be nice, maintaing such fantasies and never having to trouble oneself with reality.

Only 14% of Republicans in polls regard the media as trustworthy, down by 50% in one year. So when I say that they blew their credibility during this campaign and no one believes them now I'm not engaging in that much hyperbole.

The media is actually made up of democratic operatives with bylines, so of course Democrats trust them more.

No, since Reagan or so they've played the game visciously and without scruples. You can deny that all you'd like, but it won't change reality.

So what? How they perceive it is irrelevant to the actual reality of it. You're welcome to maintain that fantasy, if you'd like, but I'm simply not interested.

If the President was going to be elected by popular vote then Trump would have campaigned differently, spending less time in small states and more time in population centers, and his message would have been tailored differently. He likely would have won anyway. Hillary campaigned on the "donor circuit" and it hurt her. She spent 10 times more money than Trump did, and she still couldn't get elected. A far cry from the "Hillary by a landslide" BS the media was peddling. And so much for money in politics.

The last House election was not held in a Presidential election year, and there were way more Republicans than Democrats up for election in the Senate, so that the Republicans lost a few seats means nothing.

You have nothing to be indignant about.

No, since Reagan or so they've played the game visciously and without scruples. You can deny that all you'd like, but it won't change reality.

Nope. All the Democrats had to do was yell "racist", "sexist", "bigot", and Republicans wilted.

So what? How they perceive it is irrelevant to the actual reality of it. You're welcome to maintain that fantasy, if you'd like, but I'm simply not interested.

By the light of reality on Nov. 9th I think we saw who lives in fantasy land.

Not true in the least, or relevant to what I posted, but you're free to pretend it is. What fun!

Also irrelevant to what I stated. This seems really hard for you.

The two best things from this election so far is the stripping of the credibility of the press and Clinton's demise. The rest is just icing on the cake.

Yes. The public discourse has been broken. Maybe permanently. Now perhaps it's going to just be who can get their boot on whose throat.

By the way, the total disregard that Trump supporter had for what others said is something they got honestly.

Sure he would. Can you produce his travel campaign schedule so we can document the claim that he spent all that time in small states with few voters?
