The dollar extended its record winning streak against the euro amid speculation Donald Trump’s reflationary economic policies will trigger faster monetary tightening.
The greenback has strengthened for 10 straight days against the euro, the longest rally since the shared currency’s debut in 1999. The dollar also posted its biggest two-week advance against the yen since the 1980s.

Domestic spending & strengthening the dollar is good, too a point; but it can kill exports. So maybe it's good for your vacation, but not so good for your neighbor's job.

But my biggest concern here, is: Who's going to pay for all this spending and tax cuts?

We're already running deficits and carrying huge debt from the Obama Recovery; we need revenue now, not more debt! :doh

I'm interested to see how this is going to mesh with Trump's proposed protectionism. We take a hit in international trade when the dollar gets stronger, but he's talking like he's actively going to hit back.

My prediction: US GDP goes up, while global GDP stagnates or goes down. We've been busy developing other countries for a long time do they can afford to buy our American made goods... perhaps it's time to start cashing in on that investment.

Oh, not to worry. Republicans have never actually been concerned with who actually pays and how. Nothing's going to change.

That's not the US buck rising, it's the Euro tanking. It's gone down against everything since last year. Pounds, yen, everything.
But enjoy your trip. We're looking at Spain next winter.

Better lobby obama...he still has two months to do something right for a change. Something to benefit America, instead of goddamn America!

Neither have Demos, as long as they can milk the stupid....and fool their constituents.

Hey, that's where I was planning on going. I'd like to visit Portugal as well.

One of my neighbors is a pastor of a church, most of the rest, are retired and loving it.

I live in an un-gated community. Most of us are well armed, so we don't need no stinkin gates.

Yeah the euro aint looking so great, I think alot of it is from countries doing bad like spain and greece, combined with the brexit putting doubt on the euro zone.

The big drawback is anyone using the euro has no sovereign currency, so when individual countries have issues fiscally they have no control over their currency, and I am sure many have been looking at ditching the euro to favor their own economy over general europe.

The Euro dropped on the Pound?

Seriously? (I haven't been following)

If so, that's bad sauce, 'cuz the Pound has been dropping since Brexit! :doh

Over twelve months, yes, but since the Brexit, I don't know.

I think we are seeing a lot of jockeying over the upset in this election. To really see where things are going we need to wait until he gets in office and starts making changes. He may have been nothing but hot air and once he sits down with his team of experts and finds out what he really can and can't do we my see a whole different Trump. I think he is going to make changes. He clearly is a person who gets things done but you still have to work within your means.

This country needs to head in a new directions and long term goals need to be started and hopefully completed by future leaders. It has been too long since ventures such as the railroad, the highway system, and projects such as the Hoover Dam or our ports have been started and completed. I am talking about high speed light weight rail moving at speeds rivaling airplanes. Well within out technical means. Being able to travel from New York to Philly in the time you spend parking and getting through security at our airports. Not 1000 ton steel monstrosities lumbering along at 50 miles an hour but a carbon fiber capsule going down a magnetic rail at 300, 400, even 500 mph. Time to upgrade our mass transit to the 21st century along with a lot of other things. It is time our tax dollars went to work making America great not other countries.

According to every chart I have been able to find the value of the dollar has been going up since 2012. I didn't know that Trump was in charge iin 2012?
