Professor predicted Trump win, says he will be impeached - CNNPolitics.com

(CNN)The man dubbed "Prediction Professor" for accurately calling every presidential election since 1984, including the 2016 election, now forecasts the impeachment of President-elect Donald Trump."There's a very good chance that Donald Trump could face impeachment," Allan Lichtman told Erin Burnett on "Erin Burnett OutFront."

Holy hell....let's just hope that doesn't happen at all.

"The Republicans are nervous about Donald Trump," Lichtman said. "He is a loose canon. Nobody knows what he really believes or really where he stands. He can't be controlled. The Republicans would vastly prefer to have Mike Pence, an absolutely predictable down-the-pipe conservative Republican."

Making THAT prediction isn't far-fetched. If I've learned one thing this election cycle, though, it's that predictions can be 180-degrees from correct.

Impeachment would mean DT had done something illegal while in office.

Should we wait 'til he gets there first?

Exactly. And who has the votes to impeach?

Impeached based on what? This stupid **** is getting ridiculous.

Do you not understand what a "prediction" is?

We'll just have to wait and see won't we?

Predictions can be wrong. (we saw that just a few days ago didn't we)
As I stated in the OP, I hope it is wrong.
Pence is far more frightening than Trump.

Actually Pence is most of the reason Trump is such a ****ing nightmare, and he would be acting president whether Trump has the title or not (since Trump is so woefully undereducated for the position, and also has no desire to do it, Pence would be the most powerful VP in living memory -- even more powerful than Cheney). Pence is the most virulently bigoted, authoritarian, and regressive politician we've had in the executive in many decades.

So I don't see this as being very comforting. Nor, I'm sure, does any group that isn't wealthy straight white men. Pence, as governor, seemed determined to bring Indiana back to the bad old days in the '80s when Reagan was denying AIDS existing, and it caused an outbreak in his state.

People have a habit of saying, "We've survived bad presidents before." But the people who say that have a tendency to be stunning privileged. The fact is, there are thousands, if not millions of people who DIDN'T survive those bad presidents. Ask the Natives and all the middle-aged gay men. If you can find any, since most of them are dead. They didn't survive our bad presidents, and in some cases were openly attacked by them, even in the modern era.

But of course, who cares about them when everything looks fine from their nicely tended front lawn?

The idea of Pence being president gives me no comfort. Nor do I think it really makes any difference.

While Paul Ryan is giddy as a school girl in love right now, he would change one dime. Those who over-estimate his loyalty will find he's most likely some of the swamp that needs cleaning.

I thought your opening post was a good one. Your last sentence here is very disappointing.

That wouldn't surprise me but, those in the GOP who might support him in this quest would be seen as pariahs by the voters. This is Ryan's second or third chance to get it right.

Why? You actually think Pence is a "good" choice for POTUS?

Pence was hardly the focus of vitriol during the campaign. This is just another way the opposition is throwing **** against the wall praying it will stick.

No. Pence is rather frightening in that evangelical religious way that makes so many people cringe in many different ways.

Pence, I got the feeling, was hardly visible.

The whole thing for this professor Lichtman is based on an assumption, that Trump will continue to be unpredictable thus Republicans will impeach a Republican President just to get to Pence.

Just because he was right about the election of Trump does not mean we should rush out to validate this assumption, that Republicans would literally gift-wrap the 2020 election to Democrats because of impeaching Trump causing such a public display of internal Republican shenanigans.

I don't buy it my friends, we are seeing wishful thinking on the part of this professor masquerading as predictions and assumptions.

In the case of either candidate there was a probability of their being impeached for things dating from before being elected. I would think the probability was higher for Clinton, as the head of the Administration was a friend of Clinton's and seems to have used the IRS before. If he didn't find the dirt, it is well hidden.

You can't be impeached for things that happened before you were in office.

Just curious, do you think trump will be able to stay away from his businesses?
If he does not he will no longer be POTUS.

I pray for Trump's health so we don't have to worry about having that loon Pence in Lincoln's chair.

None.

Trump would have to commit his crimes while in office.
It would then take 2/3rds of he house to vote and 2/3rds of the senate to remove him.

This guy is putting the cart before the horse.

Do you understand what wild speculation based on nothing, is?

There is nothin that says he has to. He just can't use the power of the presidency to further his business.

It is amazing how little (nothing) the left has learned this election season.

Or gain from his position as President. Yes, there is something that says he must distance himself, it is called a conflict of interest.

You're right about the consequences, I think. As to his ability to stay away, he will have to sooner or later.;) might as well he sooner. I personally have great hopes since I don't think a true hopeless workaholic could have effectively stayed away during the campaign. He's been grooming his children for years. And he'll have a very effective channel for his energies as POTUS.

If he CAN'T, I think he will completely destroy his brand. And I doubt that's anywhere near what he wants to do.
