Democrats have been decimated at the State level

The Democratic Party should probably learn not to spend an entire election demonizing the person of the the oppositional candidate, but rather the policies. Although there was certainly disagreement with the border wall and Trump's Muslim ban, there was never really any organized pushback by the Democrats to Trump's economic policies, especially on trade. And the economy is still where most elections are won and lost. Trump promised jobs and economic revitalization to working class areas in the Rust Belt and Democrats really didn't.

Republicans need to be careful not to overplay their hand though like the Democrats did after 2008. The popular vote doesn't matter for the election results, but it does show that the Democrats are far from a party that can't win anything. And although Trump's 300 EV's look impressive, literally a 1.2% uniform swing and Hillary would've had 300+ EVs. This was a very, very narrow win against a candidate widely believed to be irredeemably corrupt and untrustworthy. This was about as far from a mandate for Donald Trump as you could possibly get without losing the election.

If things go south, Republicans will rightfully or wrongfully get all the blame and possibly put the Democrats in position to be in control of redistricting the next census. They should be attentive to that fact.

Biggest miscalculation ever.

So many of the R Division taking the D divisions advice to disown their own candidate? Sure, and it sure validated the sense in the country that the DC ELITE R DIVISION have long been cucks to liberalism regardless of the volume of their protestations when charged.

All of this is true. They are at bat.

If the dems are in such bad shape how come Hilary got more votes than Trump? If the Democratic party is so out of touch, how did that happen?

Trump only won the electoral college which is something not quite democratic

Because they control the cities. Who do think has control of just about everything else? Hint: There are two parties and democrats are not the answer.
