Not really. We voted for electors that will confirm the president.
The electors can if they choose be faithless to vote for who the
People want. It has never really happened but it is possible.

I understand the EC process. Most electors are bound by law, under penalty of imprisonment, to vote for the candidate that garnered the majority or plurality of the vote within the electors state.

As you said before in the post I clicked the "like" button, if the electors do not vote for their designated candidate, and choose to be faithless, then this country will devolve quickly.

The young and/or ignorant people that are advocating for a coup d'état have no clue what would happen in response if they were successful.

In fact, it could easily be argued to be treason for them to actively seek the illegal overthrow of the legitimately elected government of the Untied States.

And it is not going to happen. This is ridiculous wishful thinking.
What you're saying is whenever a President is elected, the results can always be reversed.
Do you have ANY clue the destruction to the process that would create?

If I had solid reason to believe half the stuff you believe, and if I thought an elected President actually posed a real danger to the population as you suggest, I would join you.
But as much as I distrusted Hillary Clinton and as much as I'm sure she would have done irreparable damage to the nation, I was prepared to accept that result because
there are built in safeguards such as impeachment. Are you aware that the last President to be impeached was HILLARY CLINTON'S HUSBAND BILL ????

This is what happens when you don't read the entire conversation.

The fact is that we do not vote for the president.
We in fact vote for electors to vote for the president.

There is 0 constitutional binding for them to vote the way of the people vote.
It is just something that has always occurred.

While some states have them bound they can still break the law and they will get a month in jail and a 1k fine.

I do not advocate this at all I think it is a horrible precident.
It is something that could happen.

All the electoral college defenders say we have to have the EC because the people can't be trusted to vote for president. If ever there was a time for the electors to exercise some actual judgement rather than just rubber stamping the election results this is it. Our country and our planet is at stake. They need to do the right thing and not let America slip in a Nazi Germany-like nightmare.
