This election may suck, but I see the tide turning

The GOP doesn't need blacks. There aren't enough of them to matter. The GOP needs independents. Let the liberals keep their parsed together coalition and concentrate on expanding the GOP tent a little. It doesn't need to be much. Do what Reagan did. Don't pander to ethnicities. Don't separate people into groups. Talk about Americans.
To the bolded: Yep, exactly!

Obama ran on the same, and enjoyed great support - including expanding the electoral map.

Before the GOP start to come after the Dem base, they might want to get their own house in order firstly - perhaps starting with the more fringe radical wings where the racists, nationalists, xenophobes, religious zealots, homophobes, sexists & misogynists, and true Trump deplorables reside. They didn't seem to do too well this cycle.

These subsets above may not be the majority of the party, but they are present and well entrenched within - as can be seen this election season.

When the GOP clean themselves up, maybe then I'll consider they may have solutions & ideas for others.
More horsecrap. Your post implies that the conservatives cater to attracting racists and that kind of crap is intellectually dishonest and a feplorable tactic employed by the left

Bullcrap. His message was basterized by the leftist media to paint that impression.

Well, this can easily be verified by the demographic breakout tomorrow night.

If Trump indeed has a higher minority turnout for him than Romney in 2012, I may believe you.

Until then - it's my strong opinion you are wrong. That goes in spades for Mexican Americans.

What does turn out have to do with my point that his message was perverted by the media. If anything it reflects how effective a job the media has done pushing their agenda

Their message already does, but when you have 90% of black people voting democrat year after year, it's difficult to turn people's thinking around. They've been sold so long on the promises of the democrats, that the majority are not willing, at least thus far, to entertain anything else.

The way I see it, that is slowly starting to change thanks in part to President Obama. Many in America's black communities who had such high hopes when Obama was elected, are discovering that after 8 years of America's first black, democratic president, that things have not only failed to improve for them, but in many aspects have gotten decidedly worse. When he took office, black unemployment was 78% higher than whites, and today it's 100% higher. Because of Obamacare, many jobs offer only a 30 hour work week instead of 40, and his immigration policies have made it even harder for young blacks to find work. Many are also noticing that after decades of improvement, race relations in America have taken a turn for the worse under Obama's presidency.

.

You might want to start by finding a Republican candidate who is an outright racist. Look at the groups who support him and no he is not reaching out to minorities. Listen to his dialogue with the nation.

If you've got some other rationale as to why the groups I mentioned above gravitate and reside within the GOP, I'd like to hear it.

I also see you conflated my post about the GOP with "conservatives", which I bolded. What are we discussing here? Conservatives, or the Republican Party? I'm discussing the GOP Party, in which much of the conservative movement resides (sort of) along with a lot of other factions.

I don't have a blanket issue with Conservatism (though with some facets I do), and I indeed practice a few of what some might see as conservative values in my personal life. But I do have many issues with the Republican Party.

Oh so every speech he gave was tainted by media. Please come back to planet earth now before you completely suffocate. He is a racist, bigot, misogynist, and the list can go on. The Republicans could not talk about anything but emails and Bengazi. They forgot Powell, Rice and Bush lost millions of emails. They forget terror 9/11 under Bush and the Marines who died in Lebanon when Reagan was in office. But the media is tainted. hahaha

Blame the media if you'd like, but I respectfully submit the GOP is not attracting blacks, minorities, and Mexicans - and one needs to look no further than Trump's very own words.

LMAO what a complete joke. The type of retarded and dishonest rehtoric in the OP is part of the problem and will never be part of the issue.

If republicans want more minority votes then the main republican "POLITICIANS", not republicans in general, have to COMPLETELY change their platforms, outreach communications and stereotypical language/verbiage/talking points and stances.

Can it be down? of course
Will it? I seriously doubt it because they stereotypical roots of the party aren't willing to change yet and the people in the party that totally support the change or at least do not support those old platforms aren't fighting hard enough against them and or currently its only fracturing the party instead of changing it.

Republicans could have more minority votes anytime they want them but they have to outreach to those communities and in doing so the "powers to be" of their own party will out them and label them not a real republican.

The problem is a multiple tiered one. I don;t know how they fix it but empty dishonest biased rhetoric will NOT to it nor will candidates like trump or cruz etc

Fair critism i inadevertly conflated but your point taken. Lefists have their own brand of bigots that clinge to them but i dont go around calling all leftists bigots or beliebe they are trying to attract them. Both sides ate stuck with unintended and unwanted garbage

I agree and disagree with you. The right does a terrible job at selling its idealism but the media also sabbatages it every chance they get

Hmmm I guess you think anyone who thinks Trump is a racist, bigoted idiot is voting for Hillary Clinton. Sorry you would be wrong again. Alyson Kennedy and Osborne Hart, Socialist Workers Party. (The word is indoctrinated not indoctrined) and no I am not.

The one thing I'm encouraged about, is the fact that I'm seeing more and more black people in America waking up and realising that the Democratic party has played them for fools for more than half a century.

Hopefully by 2020, after another 4 years of a democrat running the show, the truth will spread like wildfire.

Yeah, because there are so many more angry white men being produced...:lamo

Thank you! And I'll agree in that there's a-holes across the political spectrum, and yeah the Left has their own prejudices!

I was a life-long cradle-Democrat from birth, but dumped them nearly two decades ago. I'm no longer a member of a political party, and while I particularly dislike the GOP - I'm not really fond of the Dems either. The Dems left me a long time ago. Though I often enough (but not always) find the recent Dem Presidential candidates more palatable and this election is no different for me (but it's not a happy vote).

Lol you and i are opposite sides of the same coin. I begrudgingly fall right but i despise both sides

What is that supposed to mean?

It's a matter of pride and getting annoyed when someone tells other ethnic groups what should be best for them. It's condescending for one. People, no matter what ethnic group , are fully capable of figuring out where their best interests reside, and don't need someone to tell them that.

Right. But isn't part of running for office trying to convince people that you are better for them than your opponent? Or is Hillary whitesplainin when she visits a black church? Or is this something only republicans can do?

This thread is a farce. If any tide is turning, it's in favor of the Democrats.

- White women look to be supporting the Dem candidate more than the GOP candidate for the first time in a very long time.
- College educated whites, a traditionally Republican group, also favor Clinton over Trump.

So if Trump can't even win voters who previously supported other GOP candidates in large numbers, you think somehow he's convinced blacks to move to the GOP? Laughable.

This is not even taking into account Asian and Cuban Americans, two "groups" who once heavily supported the GOP, who in the last few election cycles have been leaning more and more towards the Democrats (especially Asians).

Not at all. There is a difference between going to a church/ or whatever and trying to convince people that you are the better candidate and having some supporter say 'I don't undersrand why you are voting for CLinton, Bernie is a better candidate for you'

The main disagreement I think people have with the other side is WHAT exactly constitutes a racist opinion. I would like to hear what mainstream GOP supporters have done that evidences racism and, in followup to your statement here then, according to you, what is the secret to attracting minority voters that the GOP should adopt?

In Red state after Red state the Republican state legislators are doing everything they can to keep Blacks from voting. See North Carolina.

And then there's of course the tried and true GOP campaign tactic they've used since the 70's of the ' Southern Strategy'.

Anyone who thinks Blacks are going to switch allegiance now, or in 4 years is kidding themselves. The GOP has decades of piss poor history to shake off with Blacks.

Yep, and then proceeded to wreck the economy, bring the world to the brink of WW3, made Iran a nuclear power, drew sissy red lines in the sand that made the US the laughing stock of the global community, flamed race riots all over the nation, created one of the most violent cities on the planet (his own backyard), saw his own net worth soar to over 100 million dollars, cut many programs benefiting poor blacks, illegally bypassed Congress many times.........

Yeah, something to be proud of.

(and please don't insult people with lies from the false information the administration has created to keep you folks under their wings)
