Trump vs Clinton

Actually, Clinton's lead seems to have shrunk, since last time she was ahead by 7.5 points, but now it's shrunk to 5.9.

Like the one in the OP, they're oversampling democrats.
I'm not sure why or if there is a legitimate reason for it.

I've seen it in a couple of polls.

Trump vs Clinton

I'll Pass, neither is worthy of support, thanks for nothing GOP and DNC.

From the poll cited in the OP

Partisan divisions are 36-27-31 percent, Democrats-Republicans-independents.

It's rather simple to understand why these polls oversample Democrats.

Besides the obvious, they also know the gullible will post them all over, as evidenced by this thread.

I mean I suppose there could be a good reason, that maybe more people identify as.
If not, it seems like they're trying to guide opinion, rather than measure it.

All the MSM is pushing the Clinton +6 average of poll number in effort to depress

MSM has to create an extremely biased +12 polls to get that +6 average because all reputable polls are showing Trump up or its tied.

what is the point of doing a national poll? i just don't understand why the media focuses so heavily on them. polling in swing states seems far more important and interesting.

I think you are giving a degree of latitude that is way outside any rational standard deviation.

Polling 25% fewer Republicans against a question of who do you support, the Democrat or Republican, provides results that are meaningless.

That's where it really counts, in the swing states.

Actually, for virtually ALL polls that provide that data, you see oversampling of Democrats. But, especially from the media polls.

The reason why is simple. They have a narrative. They want to make Hillary look good...but not too good. That's why they are not consistent in the level of their oversampling. Along with RCP's picking and choosing which polls to include in their average, these media polls fluctuate to give Hillary just the right amount of edge over Trump.

Oh...and this happens at the State levels, as well.

I suggest all voters completely disregard all polls, get as much information from a wide a variety of sources as they can and then make up their own minds and vote.

Hillary was crowing about getting 7000 on a large multiuniversity campus in the middle of Philadelphia - she’s in trouble....

Where do you think they get the data for those electoral college predictions?

Hint: polls.

Some do, some don't either way guess which I like better?

In a few more days, the only poll that really counts will take place.
Then, we'll know which of two terrible choices will occupy the White House.
