One of the newly-released hacked emails from Clinton ally John Podesta show that he and other Hillary Clinton allies polled voters in 2008 to find out their views on several negative attacks on Barack Obama, including the fact that he has a Muslim father.

Paul et al- We've reworked the Obama message into the survey, as requested. But on the list of negative facts we need to cut ONE since we separated out gay adoption and his use of cocaine. Please send your suggestions. Thanks!

What if Hillary's friends mixed up their dossiers and got their pals at CNN to report that Trump is a secret Mooslum while Obama is a womanizer. The hilarity that would have ensued.

I'm actually inclined to believe Podesta in this case. The questionnaire reads like a "who's who" of conservative hot button issues - they were gauging the effectiveness of Republican angles of attack against Obama. Right wing one-liners that Hillary would obviously have no use for in a Democratic primary.

The website claimed it was leaked by "Clinton staffers" and published an email from one, which read: "Wouldn't we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC [Hillary Rodham Clinton]?"

It'd be like "If we wanted to smear Donald Trump we'd release this Access Hollywood video but we'd never do that. [The video is attached to this email]".
These days they just give it outright to accomplices like WAPO.

No. One-liners about gun control, drug use, and government run healthcare are not attacks that Hillary would have any use for in a Democratic primary. Accusations that Obama was a secret Muslim had been plaguing him since he ran for Senate - but let's say the photo did originate from the Clinton campaign. All they did was float it - Republicans took the bait and ran wild with it. That only means she had good political strategists who knew how to play off the conservative crazies.
